Amazon Software Development Engineer II, Project Kuiper in Redmond, Washington

Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

Builder Operations and tools team is responsible for build systems, developer experience, devops, CICD infrastructure, and Artifact Storage Service. We are looking for an engineer with experience in system design of backend services, along with advanced knowledge of AWS cloud services infrastructure such as: S3 storage, IAM role management, Lambdas, EC2, Cloud watch, API gateways. We support internal teams by vending constructs for integrations and implementing CDK for pipelines. Proficiency in at least one of Programming language such as Python/GoLang is required.

The candidate would participate in all phases of software development from requirements through implementation and security to operations. This includes designing and implementing a wide range of software using AWS stack, sometimes requiring partnership with low level embedded code software systems and architecting scalable design solutions for software distribution and deployment for satellites. You must be about to disambiguate high level of ambiguity and unknowns, design flexible solutions and able to succeed within an open, collaborative environment.

Export Control Requirement:

Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Key job responsibilities

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
