Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Principal Electronics Engineer (Vehicle Systems Engineer) or a Senior Principal Electronics Engineer (Vehicle Systems Engineer) to our Vehicle Systems Products team in Redondo Beach, CA. This position will be in our Avionics Integration Organization supporting the F-35 program.
This candidate will be responsible for development, production, and sustainment efforts on the F-35 air vehicle.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Under minimal direction, collaborate with Responsible Engineers to develop system-level approaches to resolve technical issues
Managing suppliers and developing and releasing the Performance Based Specifications
Performing technical evaluations for the Global Supply Chain Procurement Review Board
Supporting suppliers and customers with troubleshooting anomalies in system integration labs, on the production lines, or during flight testing, including Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCAs).
For Design and Development Contracts: ensures supplier’s products meet the technical requirements, pass design reviews, qualification tests, and production readiness.
For Production Contracts: supports quality improvement initiatives to minimize production returns while ensuring there are no technical issues like part obsolescence impacting production.
For Sustainment Contracts: leads Depot Activations and fleet support failure analysis and Action Request dispositions.
The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels.
The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility. Scheduled telework days are approved at manager's discretion. This role requires the ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
This position can be filled at either the Principal Electronics Engineer (Vehicle Systems Engineer) level or the Senior Principal Electronics Engineer (Vehicle Systems Engineer) level, depending upon the qualifications below.
Basic Qualifications for Principal Electronics Engineer (Vehicle Systems Engineer) :
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 0 years of related engineering experience.
Engineering experience with military aircraft subsystems
Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret clearance once in position
At some point, candidate may be required to obtain special program access (PAR). This PAR must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Basic Qualifications for Senior Principal Electronics Engineer (Vehicle Systems Engineer) :
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 3 years of related engineering experience.
Engineering experience with military aircraft subsystems
Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret clearance once in position
At some point, candidate may be required to obtain special program access (PAR). This PAR must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Preferred Qualifications for both levels:
Prior experience with Communication Navigation Identification (CNI) / Electronic Warfare (EW) engineering
Experience with engineering tools such as CATIA, Matlab, or Python.
Prior experience with supplier management
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management.
Salary Range: $110,300 - $165,500
Salary Range 2: $137,400 - $206,000
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
