Day - 08 Hour (United States of America)
The Critical Care Rehabilitation Team consists of Occupational and Physical Therapists, Speech/Language Pathologists, and Rehabilitation Aides who work closely in a multidisciplinary patient care team. Our skilled staff works with patients with a variety of pulmonary and cardiac disorders.
We are currently working on an ICU early mobilization project to assist in getting our patients mobilized as soon as medically possible to work on improving overall function. We have a very skilled group of clinicians who work with this medically complex patient population.
The Stanford Division of Pain Medicine and Stanford Health Care (SHC) Outpatient Rehabilitation Services invites applications for a full-time, clinical Physical Therapist, at the Senior (Level II).
We are seeking a team-oriented individual with a commitment to evidence-based clinical care, rehabilitation program development, teaching, and research to join an outstanding interdisciplinary faculty at this top-ranked Academic Health Care System. The Pain Management Center, which has twice received the American Pain Society Clinical Center of Excellence Award, provides teaching opportunities in musculoskeletal examination for the Pain Medicine Fellowship program. The Pain Management Center is a comprehensive, interdisciplinary and team based Center assessing and caring for those with chronic pain.
As a tertiary care center, the primary role of this position is to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of physicians, psychologists, and nurses to formulate and implement comprehensive treatment plans for complex pain patients. A central role of this position (50% case load) is to provide initial evaluation, initiate therapeutic exercise recommendations, and resources for follow up PT care for patients both geographically distant as well as close to our clinic. Follow up PT care is provided for individuals located close to our facility, at the individual level and/or group-based level (i.e., exercise classes in combination with cognitive behavioral therapies co-delivered with our Pain Psychologists)

Clinicians will be involved in delivering physical therapy care in the context of a biopsychosocial framework, as treatment includes group based behavioral treatments. Treatments should emphasize education on self-management strategies with the overriding goal of helping patients achieve and maintain higher levels of functioning. Although this is primarily a clinical position, the Physical Therapy Clinical Specialist will also be expected to contribute to further developing the presence of physical therapy within the Pain Clinic.
Required Qualifications :
The successful candidate must have the following.
License/Certification : Physical Therapy in the state of California by the Physical Therapy Board of California (Code: PT).
Eligibility for licensure by start date is acceptable.
License/Certification : BLS - Basic Life Support by the American Heart Association.
Education : Requirement met by License/Certification Requirement, which includes holding a Master's or clinical Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy (MPT, MScPT, or DPT).
Experience : Two (2) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.
Highly Preferred Criteria : The ideal candidate should exemplify the following.
Hold American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties board certification in a relevant area for the field of adult pain management (i.e., Orthopaedics, Neurology, Women's Health, Geriatrics). Hold or be enrolled in a master's degree or graduate certificate in pain management.
Examples of these programs include:
MSc in the Clinical Management of Pain (The University of Edinburgh)
Graduate Certificate in Pain Management (The University of Sydney)
Graduate Certificate in Chronic Pain Management (McGill University)
Hold or be enrolled in a certified teacher training program in an integrative medicine, movement-based therapy (i.e., yoga, Tai Chi, Feldenkrais, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction).
An academic doctoral degree (PhD, DSc, EdD, or equivalent), should the candidate desire to pursue a clinical research pathway.
Be an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association, American Pain Society, and International Association for the Study of Pain.
Have a minimum of three years of clinical experience in an outpatient-based orthopaedic clinical setting.
Skills and Abilities :
Demonstrate the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with a variety of health professionals (i.e., physicians, psychologists, nurses).
Present a positive, compassionate, and professional attitude when engaging with patients, clinical faculty/staff, and the local and national professional community.
Possess excellent interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills, organizational and time management skills.
Have a developing line of clinical and/or scholarly inquiry within the physical therapy care delivered in the context of a biopsychosocial framework.

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $51.11 - $67.71 per hour
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
