PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $100,900.00-$123,200.00 annually. The full Pay Range is $78,400.00 - $145,800.00 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

Newly hired employees accrue 6.16 hours of paid time off (PTO) on a per pay period basis based on hours worked (up to a maximum of 160 PTO hours per year) and receive ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE:

As a Software Developer Engineer in Test (SDET) at BECU, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software. Your expertise in writing automated tests, debugging applications, and identifying software defects will help build robust, enterprise-class software that serves our members. You’ll work closely with developers, QA teams, business analysts, and other SDETs, ensuring that every piece of software is designed with testing in mind. Your contributions will enhance software quality through test automation, improve the development process, and drive efficiency in testing and validation.

To join our dynamic team, we require candidates to be residents of WA, OR, ID, AZ, TX, GA, or SC. If you call any of these states home, you're in luck! We offer the flexibility of remote work for residents in these locations, allowing you to contribute from the comfort of your own home.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Design and Write Automated Tests: Write automated test cases and scripts that ensure software is tested thoroughly and efficiently across various application platforms.

  • Debug and Analyze Code: Assess the flow of code and its interaction with different processes, identifying areas of improvement, performing root cause analysis, and debugging applications to ensure software stability.

  • Identify Risks and Defects: Classify and manage risks, errors, and potential issues in software applications and services, ensuring they are addressed early in the development process.

  • Create Test Scenarios and Cases: Develop and automate test scenarios and cases from software requirements, ensuring that they are integrated into the build process via a continuous integration (CI) system.

  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with developers, QA, and other SDETs to ensure that software is built with quality and testing in mind from the start.

  • Automate Test Data and Execution: Automate the creation of test data in test databases and automate test execution as part of the software build process.

  • Contribute Beyond Testing: Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support the team and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality software.

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.

  • Minimum of two years of experience designing test cases and writing automated tests in a team environment.

  • Hands-on experience with testing and automation frameworks for multiple application platforms, including Web and Mobile.

  • Proficiency with programming and scripting languages such as C#, Python, or JavaScript/Typescript, and experience in a Windows development/QA environment.

  • Experience with test frameworks such as Nunit, MSTest, Xunit, jest, puppeteer, mocha, pytest, unittest, Specflow, Selenium, or Gherkin.

  • Minimum of one year of experience with continuous integration systems and test case management tools.

  • Demonstrated experience in unit testing, integration testing, and performance testing.

  • Experience using Git for version control, including performing code reviews, pull requests, and adhering to branching standards like Git Flow or Trunk-Based Development.

  • Familiarity with relational database structures and the ability to write and understand SQL queries.
