Scholastic Senior Product Owner in Remote, New York

Job Description:

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Senior Product Owner will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of a digital project within the Digital Education Solutions Group. This role will work within the Access domain and will work closely with the Principal Product Owner, Access. The Senior Product Owner will oversee 2 development teams and drive product planning and scoping of releases, and develop user stories and functional requirements for digital products.

The Senior Product Owner will be responsible for defining feature priorities and in providing leadership, strategy and project management for all development for multiple Access teams. They will work cross functionally with UX Design, Engineering, QA, Editorial, Research, Sales and Marketing. The role will report to the Principal Product Owner of the Access domain.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish a digital product strategy for your team(s) that aligns with the overarching strategic platform priorities and drive that vision to deliver high quality solutions, products and/or features, on schedule, that meet the market need.

  • Drive product strategy and vision to deliver high quality products and/or features, on schedule, that meet our customers’ needs.

  • Partner with marketing, research, editorial and other key stakeholders to determine product / feature definition and requirements that meet customer needs.

  • Lead Agile product development team(s) as a Senior Product Owner by establishing product vision, leading the product development effort, managing Sprint Planning and Review, prioritizing the product backlog including response to field and customer requests, leading story and acceptance criteria writing, monitoring milestone and release dates, and considering stakeholder interests.

  • Practice effective risk mitigation: Prioritize and make trade-offs to ensure delivery of product/features on time and within budget, while maintaining educational integrity of products.

  • Lead product team(s) to execute on the product roadmap and vision.

  • Proactively communicate to internal and external stakeholders at all levels, including but not limited to:

  • Product development status and issue escalation to executive team

  • Project scope changes, prioritization reasoning, and decisions affecting product delivery

  • Maintain consistency across other Education Solution Group programs.

Qualifications

HOW YOU CAN FIT (Qualifications)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Expertise and passion for utilizing a Design Thinking approach to product development.

  • Experience in working within an agile/scrum development process.

  • Experience in driving strategy and ensuring a cohesive customer experience across multiple digital programs and/or platforms.

Experience:

7-10+ years working in digital product development in the Prek-12 market
