VetsEZ SME VistA MUMPS Enterprise Architect (Remote Opportunity) in Remote, South Carolina
VetsEZ is seeking a remote SME VistA MUMPS Enterprise Architect to lead the modernization and stabilization of VA systems in support of the VistA Infrastructure Shares Services (VISS) office. This role demands expertise in MUMPS, ObjectScript, Delphi, and 4GL programming languages like Java or C#, working across legacy and modern systems to design scalable, enterprise-level solutions. The architect will play a key role in integrating modern patterns into the VistA ecosystem, enhancing performance, and ensuring interoperability.
The candidate must reside within the continental US.
Responsibilities:
Serve as the technical authority for VistA enterprise architecture.
Provide expertise in MUMPS, ObjectScript, and Delphi for system development and optimization.
Evaluate and integrate modern design patterns (e.g., connection pooling) into VistA systems.
Optimize core components, including Kernel, FileMan, RPC Broker, HL7, VistALink, and MailMan.
Collaborate with stakeholders to address challenges and modernize legacy systems.
Facilitate integration of InterSystems HealthShare products to enhance data exchange.
Develop architecture roadmaps, technical strategies, and modernization plans.
Conduct performance assessments, gap analyses, and architectural reviews.
Mentor technical teams on best practices for mission-critical VA systems.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
10+ years of experience with InterSystems ObjectScript and MUMPS.
Strong knowledge of Delphi and 4GL languages (e.g., Java, C#).
Expertise with VA system components: Kernel, FileMan, RPC Broker, HL7, VistALink, and MailMan.
Proven experience integrating modern architectural patterns into legacy systems.
Familiarity with VistA, healthcare interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR), and HealthShare products.
Strong analytical skills with a focus on scalability, optimization, and system sustainability.
Certifications in enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF) and DevSecOps practices are a plus.
Experience with IRIS for Health (2022+ versions) is a plus
Additional Qualifications:
Ability to obtain a government clearance.
SAFe/Scrum certification is preferred.
