Position Title: Peer Program Coordinator

Pay Range : $31.00 - $36.00/hour

Department : H2H Connect Contact Center - Specialized Services

Reports to: Assistant Program Director

Location: Remote

Schedule: Full-time, 9am - 5pm Monday - Friday EST

Position Overview : The Peer Program Coordinator serves as the liaison between H2H Specialized Services (SPS) and OASAS (Office of Addiction Services and Support), providing administrative and operational support to the Peer line(s). The Peer Program Coordinator ensures best-in-class standards are maintained through consistent peer specialist support, ad hoc consultation on each shift, and collaborates with supervisors and program leadership to ensure clinical best practices and proper connection to care.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that peer support services are in line with the OASAS and SAMHSA guidance and competencies for addiction peer services.

  • Participate in OASAS and SAMHSA learning opportunities to ensure that the addiction peer services provided are reflective of most recent best practices.

  • Provide ongoing administrative, operational, and technical support to peer support specialists and supervisors.

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on problem gambling as within the scope of OASAS.

  • Collaborate with the Quality Improvement team to ensure counselor scoring reflects the most recent Certified Recovery Peer Advocates (CRPAs) guidance and requirements.

  • Participate in trainings provided to HOPEline staff clinical and peers related to the importance of recovery support and available referral options.

  • Manage data reports for stakeholder review.

  • Coordinate and manage communication across different departments.

  • Aide in modifications as needed to support innovations in substance use and gambling harms and best practices in peer support services.

  • Support programmatic efforts to meet service levels and ensure efficient operations during all shifts.

  • Answer contacts as necessary to maintain service levels during call volume surges, staffing shortages, and/or when otherwise needed to maintain service levels.

  • Monitor and track certification progress of peer support specialists to ensure compliance with funder requirements.

  • Lead outbound calls regarding the Voluntary Self-Exclusion program as shared by New York State.

  • Work in conjunction with program leadership on special projects as they arise.

    Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficient in online platforms that serve a remote work environment such as, but not limited, to Zoom, Google Drive, One Drive, Microsoft Office.

  • Courteous, empathic, and professional manner when interacting with colleagues and crisis contacts.

  • Active listening skills to establish working alliance with callers/visitors and peer support specialists.

  • Efficiency with information-gathering, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution.

  • Superior communication skills to convey information clearly and concisely.

  • Ability to work efficiently in a team and independently.

    Required Qualifications:

  • Fluency in the English language, both oral and written.

  • Must be a Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) Certified Recovery Peer Advocate- Provisional (CRPA-P) Peer advocate or Family advocate via the NYS Office of Alcohol & Substance Abuse (OASAS) with lived experience of gambling harms preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field required.

  • Knowledge of the OASAS system of care and available resources and supports throughout the state.

  • At least two years experience as a peer specialist/advocate, and preferably with administrative/supervisory duties.

  • Crisis intervention and/or mental health information and referral services experience a plus.

  • Previous call center experience is a plus but not required.

  • Fluency in Spanish, or another language is a plus.

    Physical Requirements:

  • Mostly sedentary work; using standard office equipment including: a computer, keyboard, and telephone.

  • Must be comfortable and able to sit at a desk for up to a few hours at a time, depending on the length and needs of the interaction.

  • Ability to respond to telephones and other auditory stimulation.
