Legrand NA Production Technician in Reno, Nevada

Position Description

At a Glance

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a RAR Technical QA to join the Legrand Team in Reno, NV. The FMA Tech Support Technician is part of our PAC Tech Support team, reporting to the local Tech Support Manager. This position supports the PAC Raritan and STI brand PDU in support of problem investigation and reworking products. The technician is responsible for the testing of our customer-returned product. This individual will support the customer-requested reworks as well. T he Support Technician will play a key support role in the process of making minor repairs to the returned product. This position ensures that all assigned duties are performed quickly, efficiently, and according to the established departmental and company policies, procedures, and goals.

What Will You Do?

Main Responsibilities:

  • Follow procedures for rework, upgrading, and testing of products.

  • Perform work in accordance with UL Standards

  • Determine failure mode for all power-related product failures, clearly reporting and documenting failure symptoms to enable root cause determination.

  • Transact material/product transactions in our SAP system.

  • Repair returned product. Return repaired products to customers or restock/re-package/scrap products in accordance with established procedures.

  • Troubleshoot and isolate physical and functional product defects by inspecting returned products.

  • Identify and record product failures to identify possible failure trends.

  • Perform failure analysis as needed.

  • Record root cause of all diagnosed units in Salesforce.com and Agile.

  • Report weekly on open/closed cases to ensure cases are closed in a timely manner.

  • Develop and write processes for both internal and customer use.

  • Read and understand wiring diagrams and layout drawings to assist in product failure review.

  • Identify non-conforming parts or assemblies.

  • Perform electronic assembly and repair per IPC standards.

  • Provide updates, status, and completion information to Technical Support team via the problem request tracking system, and/or users, via voice mail, e-mail, or in-person communication.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Technical / Professional Knowledge

  • Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to provide information across multiple groups in the Company including Engineering, Quality, Production and Sales.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to work independently.

  • Computer proficient with knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/Outlook).

  • Familiarity of ISO 9000 standards and audit process.

  • Ability to trouble-shoot electronics to component level, demonstrated through previous work experience

  • Knowledge/experience of ESD Best Practices.

  • Knowledge of soldering electrical components.

  • Good written and verbal skills for communicating and documenting issues/testing results.

Qualifications

Required Skills

  • Education:

  • High School Diploma & College Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education and 5 years work experience.

  • Experience:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of AC power circuitry and electric components

  • Demonstrated ability use of electronic equipment in basic troubleshooting.

  • Ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently

  • Familiar with PC/MS office

  • Ability to lift 40 pounds of equipment
