Description
Leidos’s Office of Technology, Digital Modernization Sector team currently has an immediate opening for a Sr Solutions Architect supporting our Dept of State business and capture activities.
Leidos is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Sr Solutions Architect to support the Department of State in designing, implementing, and managing complex IT systems and solutions. As part of a dynamic team, you will work closely with both internal and external stakeholders to deliver innovative and scalable technical solutions that meet the needs of the Department of State. The Lead SA will work closely with executive leadership, business development, operations, and engineering teams to drive technological innovation and ensure the alignment of Leidos’ solutions with Dept of State customer needs and business objectives.
Primary Responsibilities
•Solution Design & Architecture: Lead the design and development of technical architectures for large-scale systems, ensuring they meet the functional, performance, security, and scalability needs of the Department of State.
•Client Engagement: Serve as the primary technical point of contact for the Department of State team, providing guidance and support to ensure alignment with business goals and strategic priorities.
•Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, systems engineers, and business analysts, to deliver end-to-end solutions.
•Technical Leadership: Provide technical expertise in system integration, cloud computing, enterprise architecture, and IT infrastructure to support the Department’s IT modernization efforts.
•Solution Implementation: Oversee the implementation of solution architectures, including system configuration, testing, and deployment to ensure successful project outcomes.
•Risk Management & Troubleshooting: Identify risks and proactively address issues related to technology, schedule, and cost. Provide timely resolution to complex technical challenges.
•Documentation & Reporting: Create and maintain detailed solution architecture documentation, including design specifications, technical diagrams, and implementation plans.
Basic Qualifications
•Master's degree and 15+ years experience in a relevant field or experience in technology leadership roles. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
•Experience with Department of State IT systems, including operational knowledge of diplomatic missions, security requirements, and relevant technologies.
•Extensive experience in leading technical solution development for proposals, including white papers, RFI responses, and technical briefings. Demonstrated success in business development and capturing new opportunities.
•Expertise in cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and enterprise system design.
•Proven experience leading the design and implementation of mission-critical systems in an enterprise environment.
•Strong technical leadership skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
•Ability to engage with senior-level clients and stakeholders, translating complex technical requirements into actionable, cost-effective solutions.
•Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
•Location: Northern Virginia; Maryland
Preferred Qualifications
•Advanced Degree: Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or IT related field.
•Secret clearance. Candidates with Top Secret or TS/SCI clearance are highly preferred.
•Digital Modernization Experience: Proven experience leading digital modernization efforts involving cloud computing, AI/ML, and data-driven solutions in government sectors.
•DevOps & Cloud Infrastructure: Experience in developing or managing DevOps solutions utilizing cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

Pay Range:
Pay Range $148,850.00 - $269,075.00
