Applied Research Associates, Inc. Technical Editor in Reston, Virginia

Description

The Capabilities, Analysis and Development (CAD) division of Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) has an outstanding opportunity for a Technical Editor with experience reviewing analytic material and revising it for clarity, format, and content. This position routinely performs copyedit reviews of intelligence products, proofreads documents for correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation, and ensures that intelligence products conform to appropriate analytic style guides. The Technical Editor may develop guides and/or templates to enable analysts producing wide-ranging intelligence deliverables. The position verifies the validity of information and facts in submitted content and works with analytic staffs to correct and complete the final review before publication. The Technical Editor ensures proper classification markings in accordance with IC guidance.

This position is contingent upon customer funding with an anticipated start date in January 2025.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of experience reviewing and editing complex, specialized intelligence products

  • Demonstrate current familiarity – experience within the last two years – performing technical editor duties for an IC production element

  • Working familiarity with established Intelligence Community directives, standards, and tradecraft documents

  • Ability to synthesize and communicate technical information in concise, consistent, understandable language

  • Experience reviewing, editing, correcting, and validating written, online, and graphical analytic content

  • Ability to manage workload effectively and meet deadlines

  • Must be a US Citizen

  • Active TS/SCI clearance; willingness to take and pass polygraph examination

Desired Qualifications:

  • Understanding of the Defense Intelligence Enterprise, DIA, and Service intelligence production centers

  • Proficiency using word processing systems (Word), desktop publishing (Publisher), presentation systems (PowerPoint), Adobe Systems, and spreadsheet systems (Excel)

  • Experience developing and/or working with graphic artists to create visuals (e.g., graphics, charts)

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within or lead a team of peers, as well as excellent interpersonal and communications skills
