Summary

Performs a variety of material handling and logistical tasks in support of manufacturing production and/or prototype printed circuit boards and other products.

Detailed Description

Receives no instructions on routine work, general instructions on new assignments. Tasks are moderately complex in nature where judgment is required in resolving problems and making recommendations. Decisions/actions may cause a minor impact on the work unit operations or schedules. Works under general Supervision. Situations not covered by standard processes, procedures and methods are referred to expert resource. May demonstrate work methods to new employees. Deals directly with immediate supervisor, co-workers and team members; engages in exchanges of factual information and provides some explanation; interactions with external contacts, if applicable, require exchanging factual information and providing some explanation.

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Performs a variety of material handling and logistical tasks in support of manufacturing production and/or prototype printed circuit boards and other products.

  • Receives, counts and stocks raw materials.

  • Receives and verifies all materials against a bill of materials.

  • Performs periodic audits and/or cycle counts to monitor inventory accuracy.

  • Completes detailed inventory transactions in appropriate systems.

  • Compiles data and generates reports as needed.

  • Delivers material to production and/or shipping areas.

  • Receives and processes materials coming in to the company including handling, inspection, labeling and delivery of materials.

  • Verifies items received against purchase orders, bills of lading and packing lists.

  • Works with purchasing to resolve problems with inaccurate deliveries or incorrect delivery paperwork.

  • Visually inspects deliveries for loss or damage.

  • Prepares finished goods and other items for shipment.

  • Orders and maintains supplies necessary to ship products.

  • Verifies count and part numbers and prepares and packs items for shipment.

  • Prepares shipping documentation and labels.

  • Schedules and coordinates pick up for outgoing shipments.

  • Interacts with freight carriers as needed.

  • Posts weight and shipping charges and maintains detailed files for shipments.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

  • Knowledge of logistics systems, SMT materials, electronics packaging and electronics terms.

  • Knowledge of personal computers and ability to learn and use applications specific to this area.

  • Basic math skills.

  • Ability to read and assimilate job documentation and identify and configure specific materials for each work order.

  • Ability to maintain detailed, accurate and organized records.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of internal customers.

  • Specific certifications and/or licenses as required.

Physical Demands

  • Duties of this position are performed in a manufacturing environment with occasional to frequent exposure to elements such as noise, dust, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, etc.

  • Duties of this position require occasional sustained concentration to focus on small areas, objects, computers, etc.

  • Duties of this position require continuous light physical effort and exertion including prolonged repetitive motion, standing, sitting in a confined work space, climbing, using equipment, handling lightweight materials, etc.

  • Duties of this position require periodic heavy manual effort and considerable exertion including lifting objects over 20 pounds, requiring straining, pulling and lifting.

Typical Experience

  • Three to five years relevant experience.

Typical Education

  • Additional courses after High School, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Educational requirements may vary by geography.
