Job Summary:
The primary job responsibility of the Estimator is to act as lead estimator on any project in their assigned division, perform all tasks necessary to develop a complete & accurate estimate and present the estimate to the Client with oversight from the Director of Preconstruction Services or Senior Estimator. Hill & Wilkinson estimators are expected to develop the ability to provide schematic pricing for clients based on a project type and historical cost data.
Job Description:
Thoroughly review all documents pertaining to assigned trades (plans, specifications, narratives, renderings, etc.).
Perform detailed take-off and scope development for assigned trades - typically less complex trades.
Become familiar with and begin organizing take-off in the estimate template for assigned trades and maintain the integrity of the template (formulas, format, etc.).
Assist lead estimator in organizing all documents required for estimating/bidding and upload to Building Connected.
Monitor subcontractors during bid time to ensure sub coverage on bid day.
Communicate with subcontractors & H&W staff throughout preconstruction phase (ie. scope coordination, estimate breakdown, alternates etc.).
Assist lead estimator with determining all required costs from Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) (permits, taxes,…).
Receive and fully evaluate subcontractor bids for assigned trades. Coordinate between trades so that there are no overlaps or gaps in scope of work.
Assist lead estimator with developing cost savings alternates as requested or needed to meet project requirements.
Review assigned take-off with lead estimator and/or Director of Preconstruction Services prior to receiving bids. After receiving & tabbing bids, review tab cards with same.
Attend the Estimate Hand-off Meeting with operations team.
Job Qualifications:
College degree preferred in a related field (construction/engineering) OR experience in construction related field.
Honest, dependable, responsible & attentive.

Able to read Civil, Architectural, Structural, and MEP drawings and specifications.
Familiar with Microsoft Office; extended knowledge of Excel a plus.
Detail oriented and organized.
