Summary of Role:

Our team at GLOBALFOUNDRIES is seeking a Design Engineer who will be responsible for designing innovative reference circuits for power and precision analog applications using cutting-edge technologies in BCD, FinFet, FDX SOI, and GAN and associated package development. Designs will be done in technologies in early development, collaborating with the technology development team. The role also requires collaborating with strategic foundry customers through demonstrations to accelerate the adoption of GLOBALFOUNDRIES' silicon technology.

Essential Responsibilities include:

  • Design state-of-the art Foundry Reference Designs for applications including switching regulators (buck, boost, hybrid), precision voltage references, gate drivers, protection circuits among other building blocks for power applications.

  • Design or direct the packages for these applications.

  • Design, implement, and tape-out designs on internal test chips to showcase GLOBALFOUNDRIES power technology capabilities

  • Implement physical design of critical circuit elements directly or in collaboration with physical design engineers.

  • Perform/direct electrical verification and modifications needed to meet specifications.

  • Characterize silicon and/or work with test engineers to demonstrate the achievement of critical performance requirements.

  • Analyze characterization data, document and present results.

  • Work with strategic foundry customers through demonstrations to accelerate the adoption of GLOBALFOUNDRIES' silicon technology

  • Collaborate with innovators at research institutions and universities to push the performance envelope in related fields and future applications of the GLOBALFOUNDRIES differentiated technologies.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Design experience of Analog/Power circuits using BCD/FinFet/GaN IC design technologies.

  • Prior experience with one or more CAD tools and frameworks such as Keysight and Cadence.

  • Education –– Graduating with Master’s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited degree program.

  • Must have at least an overall 3.0 GPA and proven good academic standing.

  • Language Fluency - English (Written & Verbal)

  • Travel - Up to 10%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior related internship or co-op experience.

  • Demonstrated prior leadership experience in the workplace, school projects, competitions, etc.

  • Project management skills, i.e. the ability to innovate and execute on solutions that matter; the ability to navigate ambiguity.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong planning & organizational skills

  • Prior experience with one or more electromigration simulation tools such as Voltus etc.

  • Familiarity with programing/scripting languages like Python, Perl,etc.

Expected Salary Range

$63,500.00 - $142,000.00
