Project Overview:

Join us as we make history at the Hanford Vit Plant, known as the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant. We are designing and building a one-of-a-kind facility that will turn radioactive and chemical waste left over from World War II and Cold War plutonium production into a form safe for disposal. Your efforts will help protect the nearby Columbia River and the communities, salmon, and wildlife along its shorelines throughout the Northwest.

Sitting at the confluence of the Columbia, Snake and Yakima rivers near two mountain ranges, our community provides access to year-round outdoor recreation, 300 days of sun a year, more than 200 wineries within a 50-mile radius, and the amenities of large cities just a three-hour drive (or short flight) to Seattle and Portland.

Job Summary:

The Expediting Specialist will report to an Expediting Supervisor and perform expediting activities per procedures. In addition, the Expediting Specialist will ensure the timely delivery of engineering submittals, materials and equipment to meet project needs. As an extension of their duties, they will perform acquisition of allowed goods and services for authorized business-related items as a Deployed Procurement Representative, utilizing a company issued Purchasing Card per procedures. #LI-SF1

This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership

Major Responsibilities:

Inputs Data/update Bechtel Procurement System database in a timely manner. Attend to issues identified during receipt of material. Coordinate with requestor to resolve order conflicts or discrepancies. Communicates early warning of supplier deficiencies/delays. Establish and maintains a working file of role associated documents.

1: Expedite engineering submittals, material and equipment by performing the following and accompanying duties

  • Contacts suppliers to obtain timely submission of engineering data and follow-up on material acquisition status, production progress and shipment.

  • Expedites Bechtel engineering for the timely review, approval and return of engineering data submitted by suppliers.

  • Evaluates production schedules and progress reports from suppliers.

  • Compiles data for the critical items reports or other supplementary reports as required.

  • Provides information for area expediting assignments for prime and suborders, as necessary.

  • Review’s material receiving reports against shipping documents to verify that material has been received at jobsite.

2: Through DPR role, perform acquisition of allowed goods and services by performing the following and accompanying duties

  • Ensure purchases are in accordance with procurement laws and regulations and organization policies, procedures, and instructions

  • Source and procure goods and services as requested/approved

  • Compile support documentation required for purchases.

  • Submit Expense Reports with all supporting documentation to reconcile purchases

  • Address delivery deficiencies, discrepancies and disputed charges.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Grade 23: University Hire with 1-2 years of experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience

  • Grade 24: Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.

  • Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge)

  • Must possess the right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.

  • Proficient in interpreting schedules to ensure that realistic milestones are established.

  • Familiar with expediting points of order for pre-award and post-award meetings with suppliers.

  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.

  • Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge)

  • Must possess the right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.

  • Knowledge of standard computer software applications, specifically Microsoft Office.

  • Skilled in working and communicating effectively regarding technical and production matters, both orally and in writing.

  • Must have good credit to allow application and authorization for use of card.
