Position Details:
Summary of Duties:
The Fiscal Specialist position provides a variety of complex financial support that includes analysis, development, processing, and reporting of fiscal data under the general direction from the GEAR UP Program Director at WSU Tri-Cities. Primary responsibilities will include processing cost share and purchasing requests, track and monitor expenditures on multiple grant budgets, travel coordination, and create cost share reports . Will provide recommendations for fiscal record keeping improvements and ensure compliance with departmental, institutional, state and/or grant agency policies, rules, and regulations. Serve as the primary point of contact for inquiries related to cost share, budget allocations and expenditures, procurement and travel. This position responsibilities include initiation and successful implementation of tasks that are detail oriented, punctual, and reliable.
This position may be available for hybrid work.
Required Qualifications, Fiscal Specialist 1:
• Three years of fiscal record keeping experience; OR equivalent education/experience.
• Three years of fiscal record keeping experience; OR equivalent education/experience
• Demonstrated ability to exercise professional judgment and leadership, including the ability to work independently.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel with strong experience creating spreadsheets, formulas, and summarizing/interpreting data.
• Experience in developing, maintaining, and /or using computerized record systems and information management.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of people, including peers, school administrators, vendors, and staff.
Preferred Qualifications, Fiscal Specialist 1:
• Demonstrated knowledge and skill proficiency of financial, administrative systems or similar systems.
• Experience in fiscal operations involving bookkeeping, accounts payable, purchasing, or other fiscal record-keeping functions.
• Familiarity with Workday
• Experience providing support in a higher education, local or state agency.
Required Qualifications, Fiscal Specialist 2:
• Two years of experience at a level equivalent to Fiscal Specialist 1 AND 15 quarter hours OR 10 semester hours of college level accounting; OR equivalent education/experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge and skill proficiency of financial, administrative systems or similar systems.
• Experience in fiscal operations involving bookkeeping, accounts payable, purchasing or other fiscal record-keeping functions.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets with strong experience creating spreadsheets, formulas, and summarizing/interpreting data.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to provide information in a clear, concise manner.
