Join the Energy Northwest team as we complete our 27th refueling outage at Columbia Generating Station.
Scheduled Duration: 56 Days
Outage Start Date: April 11, 2025
Hire Dates: March 3-31, 2025, unless otherwise specified
Work Hour During Outage: Generally, six 12-hour shifts per week (straight nights or straight days)
Overtime: Significant overtime pay, often with 20+ hours per week paid at double (2x) the hourly rate of pay
Income Taxes: Washington does not have state income taxes
Unemployment: Washington unemployment benefits are generally available following the end of assignment
GENERAL SUMMARY
This is a temporary position supporting the plant’s biennial refueling outage.
Applies all industrial paint/coating applications, except Class 1 Nuclear Safety Related coatings. Performs all surface preparation applicable to applying paint/coating. Performs other tasks applicable to the painting/coating industry.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Applies various coatings, including epoxies, alkyds, waterborne, acrylics, urethane, zinc, but not limited to these coatings. These will be applied by any/all methods/techniques to the application of paint/coatings, e.g., brush, roller, conventional
spray, airless spray, self level equipment, squeegee, trowel rake and masking.
Prepares metal surfaces for painting in accordance with standard procedures such as/including with Steel Structures Painting Council specifications. SP 1 Solvent cleaning, SP 2 Hand preparation, SP 3 Powertool cleaning, SP 6 Commercial sandblasting, and SP 10 Near White sandblasting, prepares concrete in accordance with Plan Procedure 10.2.14.
Maintain and operates all associated equipment including spray paint, sandblasting, powertools, ventilation and preparation.
Understand the use of Plant Procedure 10.2.14 and referenced documents as required for the job site.
Performs painting an preparation tasks as instructed in the station’s Coating manual and meets the requirements for training in the Coatings Program Qualification Directory.
Performs all other required tasks.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Graduation from high school or equivalent, plus graduation from an approved three (3) year apprenticeship program or equivalent experience and/or demonstrated ability in the industrial painting industry. Must be trained and be able to work in a safe and proper manner in the operation of sandblast, conventional spray and airless paint equipment; must be proficient in the use of all hand held painting tools.
Must be physically capable of extensive climbing of steps and ladders, and moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds. Must be respirator qualified (essential for hire and maintaining position). Must obtain and maintain qualification and any and all future reasonable, job related qualifications in order to retain the position. Must be able to work in and perform in a productive manner. Must possess and maintain a valid Washington driver’s license.

This is a bargaining unit position and the hourly pay rate is:
$44.64
Pay In Lieu of Benefits Amount:
$0.75
