Amentum Industrial Lead Janitor (2nd Shift) in Richmond, Virginia

Amentum is looking for an Industrial Lead Janitor in Richmond, VA for an industrial facility. The Industrial Lead Janitor will provide the janitorial staff with general daily pass downs from the previous shift as well as any safety communications and the daily stretch program for all the shift staff before the beginning of each workday in the absence of the supervisor. The industrial lead janitor will be assigned a designated area and will be responsible for the upkeep of an assigned area.

2nd Shift: Typical work hours are Monday-Friday 2:00 PM-10:30 PM . Hours may vary based on business demand.

Hiring hourly range: $19.00-$20.50/hour (hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data).

Daily duties and responsibilities:

  • Cleans and maintains buildings and facilities. Performs heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing trash.

  • Notifies supervisor concerning the need for minor or major repairs or additions to building operating systems.

  • Complies with all safety, security, compliance, and quality standards and procedures established by the company, clients, and regulatory authorities.

  • Remain flexible and prepared to complete all tasks that are assigned.

  • Utilizes company software to track completion of assigned tasks.

  • Performs area inspections to ensure all contractual obligations are met and service levels are met or exceed customer expectations.

  • Holds a daily huddle with staff at start of shift to communicate priorities and work assigned and communicate results of inspections in the absence of supervisor.

  • Exhibits dependability, hard work, strong ethics, and a professional appearance.

  • Provides direction, training, and support to the janitorial staff.

  • Performs cleaning tasks in the assigned area, as needed.

  • Schedules coverage in absence of staff when needed.

  • Follows up on customer complaints and maintains a good customer relationship.

  • Understands and applies workplace and job site safety, including- safety policies and procedures (SDS, OSHA).

  • Identifies and reacts to staff development and training gaps.

  • Identifies and solves problems and escalates to direct supervisor, when necessary.

  • Inspects equipment for cleanliness and repairs and tags out equipment when needed. Reports needed repairs to supervisor.

  • Drives vehicles (if required) to perform or travel to other facilities to clean, which includes vans, industrial trucks, golf carts, and industrial vacuum cleaners.

  • Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • 3 years of relevant experience in industrial or commercial cleaning.

  • Knowledge of applicable safety policies and procedures (SDS, OSHA).

  • Ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.

  • Ability to work an alternative schedule to include weekends and some holidays.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility/security credentials/authorization. Note: US citizenship or Permanent Residency is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.

  • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.

  • May require a valid driver’s license issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles. (https://www.dmv.virginia.gov/drivers/)

Some Physical/Special requirements include:

  • Repetitive motions: bend, stoop, squat, kneel, stretch, reach and wrist movement.

  • Walk extensively throughout the plant during shift.

  • Regularly lift up to 30 lbs.

  • Work at an accelerated pace in emergency conditions

  • Ability to differentiate colors pertaining to color coded microfiber cleaning clothes and mops.

  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.

  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment.
