Location: Based near our main offices in Oakville, ON (Canada) or Richmond, VA (USA)

At Veolia Water Technologies and Solutions our Project Technical Leaders serve as key partners for our customers in the North American market, acting as collaborative technical leaders responsible for supporting the successful sale, system design, execution, commissioning, and operation of complete system solutions tailored to our customers' needs.

As our Process Engineering Technical Leader specializing in Biosolids and Anaerobic Digestion , you'll play a pivotal role in developing and implementing innovative technologies that transform waste into valuable resources. This position offers a unique blend of technical expertise, leadership, and client engagement, allowing you to drive projects from concept to completion while making a significant environmental impact.

You'll coach a team of skilled engineers, collaborate with industry partners, and work directly with clients to design and deliver complex anaerobic digestion systems. Your expertise will be crucial in optimizing processes, solving intricate technical challenges, and ensuring the successful implementation of multi-million dollar projects. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of state-of-the-art anaerobic digestion systems

  • Oversee process design, from concept to commissioning. Process Engineering responsibilities include:

  • defining the design basis, process design (process flow diagram [PFD], process design parameters, mass balance), proposal Process & Instrumentation Diagram [P&ID] development, process narrative, hydraulic profile, ownership of process guarantees, leadership of process design reviews, risk management, preliminary equipment and instrumentation selections, participating in HAZOPs, successful process start up, performance testing, and on-going operations support.

  • Guide cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional customer experiences

  • Innovate solutions for complex biosolids treatment challenges

  • Cultivate excellent relationships with clients and stakeholders

Qualifications

Core Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including vision-setting, team alignment, and decision-making in dynamic environments

  • Proven ability to build great customer partnerships and deliver exceptional solutions

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical field (advanced degrees welcomed)

  • 10+ years of experience in waste treatment solutions design/operation (15+ preferred)

  • Extensive knowledge of biosolids industry and anaerobic digestion processes

  • Expertise in designing complex treatment systems, including:

  • Anaerobic digestion technology

  • Reception, depackaging, and pre-treatment processes

  • Digestate and solids treatment

  • Gas upgrading

  • Thermal hydrolysis

  • Proficiency in heat/mass balance calculations, P&ID development, equipment sizing, and control strategies

  • Experience in system startup, operations, troubleshooting, and regulatory compliance
