Wiley & Wilson Structural - Project Engineer in Richmond, Virginia

The ideal candidate:

The ideal candidate will perform essential engineering tasks, including related calculations-both hand calculations and using structural design software-and analyses, along with preparing detailed written reports. They will be responsible for preparing drawings and specifications for various projects and coordinating project structural activities with other design disciplines to ensure seamless integration.

In addition to these duties, the candidate will lead junior staff in the technical design of structures, providing guidance and oversight to ensure high-quality outcomes. They will also play a key role in supporting business development efforts by contributing to the development of proposals and determining the level of effort required for structural tasks associated with various projects.

The role includes reviewing construction phase requests for information, submittals of field testing results, materials composition, and other relevant documentation. Site visits to existing facilities, as well as projects under construction, will be an important part of the job, ensuring that the work is progressing according to plan and that any issues are promptly addressed.

Requirements for theStructural Project Engineer:

  • 10+ years' of progressively responsible design experience of steel and concrete structures
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Civil Engineering (Structural concentration) or Architectural Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) at job location or reciprocity within 3 months
  • Proficient knowledge of and ability to successfully use AutoCAD and Revit software
  • Proficient knowledge of and ability to successfully use structural analysis software such as RAM Structural System, RISA, RAM Concept

Desirable:

  • Federal project experience
  • Industrial project experience
  • Advanced degree in Structural/Architectural Engineering
  • Experience in Design-Build and Design-Bid-Build procurement formats
  • Experience in blast design
