We are seeking a Risk Management / Insurance discipline college student who desires to obtain experience working in a P&C insurance carrier environment. Purpose of Position: To serve as an on-the-job training position for a college upper class student preparing for a career in the P&C Insurance Industry. This internship position is designed to expose the individual to the following main P&C Insurance disciplines: Underwriting, Customer Interface, Claims, and Business Intelligence. (The levels of exposure to each specific discipline will vary.) This position will entail analytical and administrative support opportunities, and will involve working on various operational projects. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: On the Job Learning Underwriting: Policy quoting, issuance, endorsements and other process components Customer Interface (Agency Operations): customer account handling, including risk identification and assessment Claims: new claims generation, claims setup and handling, development, resolution Business Intelligence: business analytics needs, regulatory compliance requirements specific to the P&C industry Training Learn the end-to-end process and details of Underwriting renewal and new accounts Learn the nuances of our Ag-Industry customer base via the Agency Operations, techniques to deliver high quality customer service Learn how a P&C Claims Department operates, what types of claims occur on a regular basis Learn the Business Intelligence tools and reports that are used to support the business; plus the complexities of regulatory requirements Work Responsibilities Participate and contribute in the various aspects of Account handling specific to the various disciplines as identified above Identify and assess specific growth opportunity avenues / tools not currently utilized by The Exchange. Assist with other projects / tasks as needed within The Exchange. Qualifications: Junior or senior college student pursuing a degree in an area related to credit. Must have strong PC skills, particularly with Excel and PowerPoint. The position will primarily require work in the office, with some potential out-of-office customer opportunities. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Requires physical strength and dexterity to walk, stand, bend, climb, reach, stoop, twist. Vision, hearing and speech essential. Hand coordination to use computer. May require a valid driver's license. While traveling may have contact with hazardous materials and drive/travel and work in adverse weather conditions.
