This is a job for a Chemical Engineer located with a company in the Ridgeland, MS area.
Job Summary: A Chemical Engineer, who is comfortable working directly with our clients to address their health & safety concerns. We work in many industries including aerospace, chemical processing, manufacturing, and automotive industries, among others. We will capitalize on your technical strengths; you can also expect to conduct work related to process safety management programs, mechanical integrity program development, occupational hygiene, risk assessment, machine safeguarding, control of hazardous energy, and other challenges.
Responsibilities: Maintain an elevated level of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) standards when managing and working with chemical and industrial processes. Develop, implement, and monitor process safety management (PSM) programs in compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations. Conduct safety reviews and risk assessments to identify potential hazards in the manufacturing processes and develop solutions to mitigate these risks. Manage and conduct hazard and operability studies (HAZOP), process hazard analyses (PHA), and pre-startup safety reviews (PSSR). Ensure all changes to processes are controlled through the Management of Change (MOC) procedure. Provide technical support to operations and engineering teams to ensure safety is integrated into all processes and designs. Lead incident investigations to determine root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Train and educate employees on safety procedures and protocols, emphasizing the importance of personal protective equipment (PPE). Conduct safety audits and inspections, prepare detailed reports and communicate findings to site leadership. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement long-term process improvement efforts.
Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in chemical engineering. 1-2 or more years of experience, preferably in a consulting environment, and may consider internships. Proficiency in using process safety software and tools, PHAPro software. Strong knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations, industry standards and best practices. Critical thinking skills are required. Communication skills, written and verbal are critical to success. Ability to travel overnight.
