Scope of Job

We seek applicants who are dedicated to servingThe University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’sstudent body as aClinical Assistant ProfessorofPsychologybeginning in the 2025-2026 academic year.

The position is for an entry-level preferably bilingual English/Spanish clinical psychologist with a range of responsibilities in the doctoral program’s psychology clinic located in Edinburg: (1) to provide psychological services including assessments and therapy to individuals across the lifespan; (2) to conduct individual and group supervision of graduate student trainees in assessment and therapy; (3) to provide clinical teaching with practicum students and conduct didactic trainings and case conferences; and (4) to assist the clinical director with clinic operations including trainings, meetings, community outreach, and coordinate research opportunities. Minimum Qualifications

(1) A Ph.D. in clinical psychology from an APA accredited program or equivalent. (2) Evidence of potential to supervise and mentor clinical activities of graduate level students.

Licensure (or eligibility) as a psychologist in Texas

Preferred Qualifications

Licensure as a Texas Psychologist must be obtained either by the time of appointment or in the months thereafter. Language fluency in English and Spanish.

Additional Information

UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas ( TRS ), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program ( ORP ) instead of TRS , subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
