Job Summary and Qualifications

The Nurse Manager assumes responsibility for planning, supervising, and evaluating the care of patients to ensure comprehensive and continuous care for each patient/family in the unit and shift of responsibility. This involves management and responsibilities for diverse categories of personnel for patient care. The Nurse Manager position requires in-depth productivity management, knowledge of management principles, communication, teaching/learning principles, nursing practice, and the ability to apply nursing theories.

  • You will manage the daily operations and staff functions on the ICU, overseeing the ICU patients’ continuum of care from entry to discharge to ensure all patient care needs are being meet.

  • You will assist in developing objectives, policies, and procedures which support the mission, vision and values of the hospital.

  • You will promote participation in patient/family teaching and provides leadership by working cooperatively with members of the health care team to maintain standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.

  • You will provide continued guidance and direction to new employees and evaluate personnel, assess environment, and determine priorities for care in order to plan, implement, and evaluate outcomes of care.

  • You will participate in organizational and unit based quality improvement activities, ensures compliance with accreditation/licensure requirements, and be a role model in leadership development, policy development, and decision-making among staff.

What qualifications you will need:

  • California Registered Nurse License required

  • ACLS and BLS Certification required

  • NIH Stroke Certification

  • Bachelors Degree required. Masters Degree preferred

  • Minimum 3-5 years' managerial or supervisory experience preferred

  • Minimum 5 years' Critical Care nursing experience highly preferred (cardiovascular, trauma, neurosurgical ICU, or related unit)

Riverside Community Hospital is a large acute care facility with 517 beds, established in 1901. It has the most extensive Emergency Room and Level I Trauma Center in the Inland Empire region and is the primary recipient of STEMI (heart attack) cases in Riverside County. The hospital is accredited as a Chest Pain Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center and has a HeartCare Institute that offers both invasive and non-invasive cardiac procedures. Riverside has a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, which it is very proud of.
