Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Riverwoods Facilities and Services Manager - Lorida, Fl.

The Facilities and Services Manager supports The Riverwoods Field Lab (RFL) on the Kissimmee River.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical, mechanical and carpentry experience to perform repairs to buildings, plumbing, electrical and AC/heating. Position provides simple household repairs and inspecting the facility for safety according to the standards of the health department and fire marshal.

  • Provides on-site supervision of the Riverwoods Field Lab facility. The management responsibilities include purchasing, estimates, material lists and preparation and requisitions for materials and services.

  • Provides groundskeeping and maintenance services, including pressure washing, painting, carpentry, grounds maintenance, and lawn care.

  • Provides boating support including, but not limited to, mechanical, safety, trailering, and boating skills. Performs ongoing maintenance of small engines including repair of lawn equipment, small outboard vessels and UTVs and assist in retrieval of stuck or broke vehicles and vessels in the field.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required.

Five (5) years of experience in electric, plumbing and carpentry required including, but not limited to using power tools, woodworking, and plumbing, operating a zero-turn lawn mower, and knowledgeable in acquiring permitting, grounds keeping, simple household repairs, and inspecting the facility for safety according to the standards of the health department and fire marshal. **

Ability to lift 60 lbs. and work in remote locations, often under difficult environmental conditions (heat, humidity, and rain), and in areas occupied by alligators, snakes and stinging insects required.

Valid State of Florida Class E Driver's License or the ability to obtain one in a timely manner.

Ability to complete the DOI Motorboat Operator Certification Course, South Florida Water Management District’s airboat pilot training, and safety training in first aid and CPR required.

Enrollment in Maritime Consortium’s Drug Free Vessel program will be required. (http://drugfreevessel.com/)

Preferred Qualifications/Skills:

Certificates/accreditations/licensures in mechanics and boating.

Certificates/accreditations/licensures in electric, plumbing and any aspect of construction.

Salary:

$22.00 - $26.00 per hour. Free on-site housing based at the Riverwoods Field Lab, located in Lorida, in Highlands County, Florida. This position OPS provides Affordable Care benefits and a cell phone stipend.
