Responsibilities

The Electrician is responsible for supporting the Mission and Vision of Ascension by, under general supervision of the Facilities Manager, installing, inspecting, maintaining and repairing all electrical facilities and equipment. Insure that all electrical work is in compliance with all codes and regulations, etc. Perform general maintenance and repair tasks.

  • Essential Functions

  • Perform preventative, maintenance, installation and repair of electrical equipment (i.e., lights, plugs, generators, some medical equipment, motors, etc.)

  • Maintain, install and repair fire protection system components.

  • Perform monthly load testing on all generators.

  • Perform electrical power failures recovery.

  • Maintain tools in proper repair and uses proper safety techniques while completing assignments.

  • Non-Essential Functions

  • Install electrical and data cable as needed.

  • Respond to codes as appropriate.

  • Assure timely and quality completion of assigned work in compliance with department standards and procedures.

  • Perform preventative maintenance per manufacture guidelines on electrical equipment.

  • Promote a positive work environment as evidenced by quality service and positive staff attitudes.

  • Demonstrate and actively promote an understanding and commitment to the mission of Ascension through performing behaviors consistent with the Ascension Standards of Performance and Code of Ethics.

This will include taking into account their religious and cultural needs and preferences.

Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • Must possess valid State of Michigan Operator’s License with a good driving record at time of hire/transfer date required. Must meet approval by insurance carrier to drive hospital vehicles.

  • Electrical Journeyman’s License at time of hire/transfer date required, Master Electrician preferred.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Training beyond high school in related programs/advanced training in electricity.

Work Experience:

  • Two (2) or more years job related experience required.
