Responsibilities

An Antimicrobial Stewardship (ASP) pharmacist is sought to join our Rochester Antimicrobial Stewardship pharmacy team. This is a full-time position working from approximately 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, based in Rochester, Minnesota.

The ASP pharmacist will be responsible for collaborative ASP activities and will practice in a highly interdisciplinary environment alongside a network of Mayo Clinic ASP pharmacists, physicians, and healthcare administrators to deliver safe, appropriate, and cost-effective medication therapy to patients. Antimicrobial therapies will be optimized through advanced stewardship tools within the electronic health record, patient care consultation, and review of antimicrobial usage. This position will participate in the Rochester Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee and in numerous regional and Enterprise quality improvement activities. Participates in educational and scholarly activities and educates healthcare professionals and learners regarding optimal antimicrobial use. Participates in quality improvement and resource management initiatives. Participates in and supports research activities of the Pharmacy Department and Antimicrobial Stewardship. Supports the continuous improvement, patient safety, and various departmental and institutional accreditation programs. Opportunity for academic appointment at hiring and progression through appointment rank through achievement.

Other responsibilities may include assessment of medication therapy regimens, medication therapy management, medication order verification/entry, medication distribution, medication therapy monitoring, and consultation, documentation of medication therapy plans, and medication use education and pharmaceutical care services.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an ACPE-accredited Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience.

  • Other advanced degrees (e.g., Master’s, Ph.D.) and applicable Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) or other certification applicable to the position as determined by the supervisor preferred.

  • Completion of pharmacy residency and specialization (e.g., PGY-2 and respective BPS certification), if applicable, preferred.

  • Evidence of ongoing scholarly pursuits including research/quality improvement, publications, or scientific presentations preferred.

  • Relevant applicable pharmacy experience working in a progressive and collaborative practice environment preferred.

  • Experience and/or interest in teaching and/or precepting preferred.

  • Commitment to excellence, accuracy, attention to detail and teamwork required. Ability to communicate effectively, work collaboratively with others, organizes time well, practice with an agile mindset, solve problems, and work independently with minimal supervision required.

License or Certification

  • Current pharmacist license by the Board of Pharmacy in the state(s) of the job's practice site, or eligible to obtain within a time frame compliant with the site’s applicable employee licensure policy. May not independently fulfill responsibilities reserved only to a pharmacist until license is obtained.
