University of Rochester Career Serv Spec II, External in Rochester, New York

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Provides targeted employer outreach in support of employer events and serves as a liaison between departmental advising and employer relations team. Manages and coordinates logistics for university events, including developing promotion strategy, developing project plan and timelines, managing event budget and managing relationships with vendors. Provides consultation and guidance for employers seeking to establish connections with University of Rochester including employer and alumni involvement on campus, coordination with campus offices (development, corporate relations, alumni relations, other career centers as needed), on campus interviewing and other employer-focused programs. Serves as front line customer service and responsible for front desk operations including hiring and training student staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

EMPLOYER DEVELOPMENT & RECRUITING

  • Coordinates on-campus recruiting events, interviews, and employer engagements including room reservations, Handshake postings, and student promotions

  • Manages employer contacts and recruiting activities, including internship, job, on-campus interviews, career fair registrations, and event planning, through the Salesforce and Handshake platforms

  • Cleans and updates employer contacts in Salesforce based on corporate partner engagements and communications

  • Triages employer questions, research previous engagement and distributes to appropriate Greene Center relationship manager

  • Oversees employer on-campus recruiting initiatives, including logistics, employer communications, and staffing

  • Monitors employers' visits and approves employer event registrations, review job descriptions/screening criteria and information session details for career community promotions

  • Develops and maintains employer relationships and work actively to promote recruitment of students by desirable employers in accordance with corporate development plan

  • Assists employers in building their brands on campus in collaboration with marketing team; advises employers on marketing strategies and set recruiting expectations

  • Communicates employer feedback about student readiness and industry recruiting trends to team

  • Participates in comprehensive department strategy to ensure that employers and community needs are met through recruiting efforts with UR and to ensure that students and young alumni have access to relevant and timely recruiting programs and opportunities

  • Regularly evaluates employer and student recruiting policies and student privacy policies in accordance with professional association standards (NACE) as necessary; communicate to students and employers as appropriate

EMPLOYER EVENT PLANNING

  • Plans and coordinates logistical aspects for large, complex recruiting events. Develops strategies, goals, and expected outcomes. Develops project plans, budgets, and timelines for events. Sources people and materials to support the implementation of the event

  • Manages vendor and community relationships and outsources event services, including venue space and catering. Negotiates prices and resolves customer service concerns.

  • Tracks expenses, ensuring timely payment of invoices. Maintains budget for events.

  • Provides direction and oversight during events. Directs staff and volunteer assignments. Addresses questions and concerns.

  • Defines, executes, monitors, and evaluates communication strategies. Develops and disseminates communications through print, online, and social media.

ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT & LEADERSHIP

  • Serves as front line customer service for all Center visitors and triage all incoming calls, emails, and other outreach

  • Provides specialized information to students, alumni, employers, and campus staff regarding unit activities and services in person, on the phone and electronically

  • Explains and markets Greene Center services, solves problems, and interprets policies, procedures, and regulations related to issues such as services eligibility, appointment scheduling, and employer questions

  • Recruits, hires, trains and supervises 5-7 customer experience representative student staff

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 3 years of experience in business development, career education/services, recruitment/HR or other closely related area or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at UR.

  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally in the office environment and to interface with a wide array of stakeholders within our campus community.

  • Ability to embrace and drive change and to organize and effectively manage multiple priorities, programs, and projects.

  • Demonstrated exceptional communication competencies (written, oral, intercultural).

  • Demonstrated experience leading teams and developing positive relationships, partnerships, and alliances.

  • A growth mindset to planning and solving problems – we are constantly evolving as an organization and seek people to contribute to that growth and also grow their own positions.

Preferred:

  • Awareness of trends within higher education, career services, employment marketplace and economy.

  • Project management experience.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $50,752 - $71,053 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
