Description

The Departments of Psychiatry & Medicine, departments of the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry, are recruiting a doctorally-prepared clinically-active psychologist. This faculty position is headquartered in the Department of Psychiatry’s Institute for the Family, where faculty have educational and clinical responsibilities, including direct clinical service, and supervision, with an expectation that the candidate will develop a plan for scholarship once settled into the position.

Responsibilities include providing direct clinical care at Geriatrics & Medicine Associates and University Mental Health Practice, with a focus on meeting the psychosocial and mental health needs of patients and families in the setting of complex medical presentations. The faculty member will also be responsible for collaborating with a multidisciplinary team and providing consultation to the team. This position will support education and coaching of residents and fellows in the Department of Medicine, supporting their development of psychosocial knowledge, communication skills, and leadership skills. The faculty member will serve as a consultant to educational leaders the Department of Medicine.

Interested applicants should have earned a PhD or PsyD in clinical, counseling, health, or family psychology from an APA accredited training program, as well as have demonstrated experience in medical education. Preferred candidates have clinical/supervisory skills and experience in integrated care (primary and/or specialty care), as well as experience working in academic medicine. Additionally, preferred candidates will have demonstrated experience in competency-based education and coaching modalities. Compensation includes an excellent, nationally competitive base salary, with bonus/moonlighting opportunities, annual CME allotment, and generous benefits package through the University

Qualifications

PhD or PsyD in clinical counseling, health or family psychology from an APA accedited training program.

Must demonstrate experience in medical education

Licensed to practice psychology in NYS prior to start

Individual salaries will be determined within the job’s salary range and established based on (but not limited to) market data, experience and expertise of the individual, and with consideration to related position salaries.
