Job Description:

*Highland Hospital is seeking a Full Time Overnight Supervisor for its Blood Bank. Candidates for this role will work 5 days a week, 8 hour shifts with no weekends required. Shifts are 11p - 7a. Candidates would be a part of rotating holiday coverage.

Some duties include but are not limited to:

The Core Laboratory Assistant Supervisor demonstrates a superior level of expertise in all the areas of the core laboratory so as to assist the Core Laboratory Supervisors with operational functionality of the laboratory within defined laboratory regulatory compliance standards and both laboratory and hospital established policy. This individual functions independently as Core Laboratory Supervisor in the absence of the Supervisor seeking guidance from the Laboratory Management team. In addition, performs the duties of Lead Technologists as needed.

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills for the operation of instrumentation in all areas of the Core Laboratory, the ability to work independently and exhibit flexibility in decision making and prioritizing assignments, and the ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with all lab staff. Lives the ICARE values at all times. Actively guards the confidentiality of sensitive information including but not limited to the patients, staff and the health system.

Performs and provides advanced department expertise in all areas of the core laboratory, including but not limited to:

Calibrations

Quality Assurance and Proficiency testing data collections and submission.

New method and equipment evaluation, validation and implementation.

Q.C data submission/review.

Program monitoring remedial action, problem investigation and outcomes.

Procedure manual SOP writing and review.

Preventative Maintenance program monitoring, working closely with Clinical Engineering and manufacturer representatives.

Instrument and equipment troubleshooting and repair, working closely with Clinical Engineering and manufacturer representatives.

Demonstrates thorough understanding of the CAP and NYSDOH standards for compliance with regulations.

Participate in preparation for audits and inspection and monitor for compliance of all standards for CAP and NYSDOH.

Responsible for oversight of staff and student training/teaching and competency assessment.

Promotes judicial use of supplies and assists the supervisors in meeting budgetary expectations.

Salary Range:

$38.50 - $50.82 an hour

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Job Requirements:

  1. Education: BS in Medical Laboratory Technology or must meet NYS DOE requirements for licensure as Clinical Laboratory Technologist.

  2. Experience: Minimum of 6 years as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or other means of meeting NYS DOH and Federal CLIA requirements for general supervisor.

  3. License/Certification Required: NYS license for Clinical Laboratory Technologist as determined by regulatory authorities.

  4. Skills: Can prioritize and multitask. Possess good communication skills.
