JOB TITLE: Financial Management Specialist

DEPARTMENT:Financial Services

PROGRAM:Financial Management

SUPERVISOR:Program Director

STATUS:Non-exempt, Full Time (37.5 hours)

Hourly Rate:$18.00 to $19.00 per hour

SUMMARY

Come join us as we take on the challenges and opportunities of longer life and assist older adults in managing their financial affairs and continuance of personal independence. This dynamic position is responsible for meeting with and getting to know the special gifts, talents, and qualities of the people we serve. The Financial Specialist helps the Program Coordinator match and assign volunteers to clients and will often carry a direct caseload of between 10-15 clients. The financial specialist is charged with helping older adults balance their checkbooks, budget their finances, and assist with bill payment. The Financial Specialist meets with clients throughout the month at designated times and agreed upon frequencies. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assess client financial situation.

  2. Develop action plan to assist client with addressing financial goals: budgeting, bill payment and balancing checkbook.

  3. Provide appropriate financial counseling, budgeting, & organizing services to ensure long-term security.

  4. Assist client with financial decision-making.

  5. Refer to community resources to assist client with maintaining independence.

  6. Maintain and manage all records, reports and statistics as required ensuring accuracy and compliance.

  7. Advocate with financial or other individuals/institutions on behalf of client.

  8. Assign clients to volunteers.

  9. Adhere to and deliver services in accordance with Lifespan mission, vision, brand concepts, policies, and procedures.

  10. Support Program Coordinator as needed with client management, volunteer monthly meetings and data entry.

  11. Other duties as assigned

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: High school or equivalent degree. Bachelors preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Two plus years working with low-income older adults preferred. Experience helping with financial solutions preferred.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • 80% of work is performed at clients’ homes throughout Monroe County and the City of Rochester.

  • 20% of work is performed in an office setting at a workstation.

  • Computer usage (Office 365, Excel, Word, JotForm, Better Impact, Peerplace).

  • Verbal, written, telephone communication skills.

  • Strong client communication skills, compassion, and empathy.

  • Valid NYS driver’s license and reliable transportation for home visits.

  • Interface with all levels of personnel.

  • Ability to work in multi-cultural situations.

If working less than 37.5 hours, accrued time is pro-rated.

Salary/Hourly Rate

Multiple factors will be considered for salary/hourly determination including, years of relevant service, skills required, education, and internal equity.
