The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

GENERAL PURPOSE: In partnership with University and Simon's Instructional Designer(s), and working directly Simon's faculty, the Instructional Technologist provides technical, pedagogical, and systems support and guidance in the designing and developing of both in-person and online, asynchronous and synchronous content/courses. With an intermediate understanding of learning principals and best practices, and in consultation (requirements gathering) with faculty, provides pedagogical support and facilitates the creation of (online) coursework, and in the use of engagement tools and other multimedia objects/tools. Work is performed under limited supervision and performance is based upon completion of assignments and results obtained. This position reports to the Faculty Director of Academic Support, but receives some day-to-day direction from the Instructional Technologist Team Lead, and requires regular and frequent collaboration with the Instructional Designer. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Facilitation of Course and Content Structure (30%) - Builds, organizes, and adapts interactive learning activities in Simon's LMS, Blackboard. - Supports faculty with the creation of course content and in the use of engagement tools and other multimedia objects/tools. - Works on a team to integrate Generative AI (such as ChatGPT) into courses and exams. - Collaborates in the creation and adoption of the Blackboard course template. Provides training to faculty and ensure all courses adhere to the template as appropriate. Training & Engagement (20%) - Performs one-on-one training with faculty in the use of the LMS and all appropriate engagement tools and LMS features (listed below). - Collaborates with Simon's Instructional Designer(s) to plan faculty development initiatives including live workshops, online training tutorials, and articles. - Creates and maintains training & support documentation for the LMS (Blackboard) as well as various engagement tools. Engagement tools include (but not limited to): - ChatGPT - PollEverywhere - Feedback Fruits - Qwickly - Qualtrics - VoiceThread - Yellowdig - Echo360 - Panopto - Zoom LMS Features include (but not limited to): - Assignment Design - Adaptive Release - Blackboard Groups - Content Release - LTI Integrations - Communication & Announcements Systems, Software, & Troubleshooting (20%) - Maintains knowledge of learning support and engagement tools. - Provides Tier 2 troubleshooting and problem resolution with learning management system (LMS - Blackboard), content, and other digital learning technologies. - Provides Tier 1 support for video and multimedia applications, including splicing, merging, trimming, and/or converting video formats, and simple transitions. Assessment Literacy/Expertise (20%) - Demonstrates knowledge in the art of assessment and assessment literacy. - Provides counsel to faculty creating online and offline exams, which may require creating multiple versions with varying options. - Creates and suggests various rubrics as appropriate. - Uses Panopto (or Echo360) in-line quizzing for branched learning engagements. - Adapts text, PDF, and Word files to create tests, quizzes, and assignments in the learning management system. - In coordination with faculty and instructional designer(s) -structures (and builds) assessment(s) that are accessible, sustainable, and meaningful. Accessibility (5%) - Finds and implements creative solutions for users with challenging educational requirements. - Demonstrates proficiency with "Blackboard Ally" and ensures content and courses meet all accessibility requirements. Professional Development (5%) - Maintains awareness of market trends in online education, including new processes and products that are utilized by other institutions and nationally. - Maintains superior knowledge of Blackboard LMS, and familiarity with other popular LMS offerings. - Maintains mastery as it relates to core support objectives. - Maintains current awareness of Simon's strategic goals and their relationship to the University's goals. QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelor's degree in related discipline and 1-2 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience - Basic/intermediate understanding of learning principles and online best practices required. - High working knowledge of Blackboard and other learning management systems and digital technologies required. - Basic/intermediate video and photo editing, splicing skills required. - Online Teaching and Learning expertise preferred. - Experience with training/development activities for faculty preferred. - Experience with HTML preferred. - Experience with Generative AI tools, such as ChatGPT is preferred. - Working knowledge of: Poll Everywhere, Feedback Fruits, Qwickly, Qualtrics, VoiceThread, Yellowdig, Echo360 (Administration), Panopto (Copy-/Publish/Administration), and Horizon preferred. - Strong ability to teach/train adult learners (faculty and staff) in the usage of Web-based tools/applications required. - Google IT Professional certification (or equivalent) preferred. - Blackboard (LMS) training/certification preferred. - Blackboard "Learning Analytics" certification preferred.
