Job Summary

The Urban League of Rochester seeks a Marketing Communications & Digital Engagement Officer to play a critical role in ensuring the League achieves its plans for growth in alignment with its mission and vision. Reporting directly to the President and CEO, this role will lead marketing communication and digital engagement efforts across departments. The Marketing Communications & Digital Engagement Officer will be responsible for digital content creation, assisting with donor relations, fundraising campaigns, events, and all aspects of the organization's cross-channel campaigns. This individual will also support the League’s 60th Anniversary Celebration. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within a team and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, emphasizing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the Urban League brand strategy.

  • Execute the overall marketing and communication plan for the League, including identification of resources, tools, and budget needed. Ensure timely execution of deliverables, securing proper input and approvals.

  • Write and edit content for the website and cross-channel marketing efforts, including the quarterly newsletter.

  • Lead and manage marketing communications, fundraising, and digital campaigns.

  • Establish a “constant contact” program to keep all major donors, members, and event contributors fully engaged, highlighting the impact of their contributions and tracking volunteer opportunities.

  • Manage the website and create new microsites as needed.

  • Oversee all aspects of the League’s social media presence (Urban League of Rochester website, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube).

  • Drive content creation for social media, tweets, posts, videos, and increase daily engagement on social media accounts.

  • Increase awareness for initiatives, fundraising campaigns, and events.

  • Coordinate, prepare, and distribute the League’s quarterly newsletter and annual report.

  • Set up tracking systems for marketing campaigns and online activities.

  • Identify, examine, integrate, and maximize the effectiveness of all marketing communication and digital engagement processes.

  • Be a strong team player committed to collaborating with the senior management team to deliver shared organizational goals.

  • Perform duties as assigned by the supervisor.

  • Attend and support Urban League of Rochester events as well as meetings with the Board and Marketing and Fundraising Committee.

  • Stay informed about advances in AI and leverage these technologies to support the League's mission.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in communications and/or marketing, preferably in a nonprofit organization.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (candidates selected to interview will be required to complete a written performance exercise).

  • Strong attention to detail and proofreading skills.

  • Proven results in implementing marketing and communications strategic plans.

  • Proven results in managing social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, etc.) and analytics technologies to engage a diverse audience.

  • Familiarity with CMS platforms and basic HTML (e.g., Squarespace).

  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while managing deadlines.

  • Competency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Results Plus.

  • Competency with one or more leading Donor Relationship Management software packages.

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary.

  • Access to reliable transportation.
