The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Responsibilities:
Performs complex technical assignments which are broadly outlined, require theoretical insight and interpretation, and allow latitude for planning and modifying methods and techniques. Exercises a high degree of skill and judgment, and an understanding of the principles and methodology of a technical field.Responsibilities Job Summary: The Technologist is responsible for the timely and accurate test analysis using moderately complex methods and/or instrumentation. Reporting of results for patient samples is often interpretive in nature. He/She is also responsible for instrument maintenance/standardization, daily quality control and adherence to all laboratory policies. Key Responsibilities: - Analyzes patient samples using current, moderately complex laboratory methods/instrumentation (40%) - Adheres to quality control and quality assurance protocols (15%) - Reports results of patient sample analysis using computer/instrument interface options (15%) - Performs the duties of a Clinical Technologist III or II as needed (10%) - Answers telephone inquiries (5%) - Participates in the training of other technologists, technicians and/or residents (5%) - Performs instrument preventative maintenance as scheduled or needed (5%) - Performs method/instrument troubleshooting as needed (5%) Other Demands: - Punctuality and a good attendance record. - Adherence to all University, Division and Department policies. - Professional discretion with confidential patient results. - Adherence to all laboratory safety procedures. - Participation in continuing education. Relationships/Authorities: - Technologists report to the Technical Specialists and Supervisors. - Generally works independently, seeking guidance from laboratory supervisors, Pathology residents and/or Faculty. Education/Experience: - BS in Medical Technology. - BS degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Biology with at least 1-year relevant clinical laboratory experience. - AAS with a total of 90 credit hours (per NYS distribution requirements) and at least 1 year of relevant clinical laboratory experience. - An equivalent combination of education and experience. Job Progression: Level A: All techs remain at this level 1-year min. after completion of training; continuing education credits required.
