SUMMARY

The primary role of a Mobile Phlebotomist is to represent our Home Draw department by going to patients' homes and other facilities to perform physician-ordered tests. Use the Laboratory Information System to enter patient demographics (including confirming identify of patients), billing information, client information, orders for tests and appropriate comments essential to ensure complete procurement, processing, testing, reporting of results, compliance, and billing. Execute venipuncture procedure including heel stick and finger stick techniques for the procurement of blood specimens.

SCHEDULE: Must be available Monday - Friday w/ Mandatory On Call Weekend Rotations

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of one (1) year Phlebotomy experience preferred. Certificate from a School of Phlebotomy with documented clinical experience preferred
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills required.
  • Basic keyboard/data entry skills required.
  • Required to accept assignments to multiple nursing homes and patients'' private homes on a daily basis. May be asked on occasion to temporarily accept Float Tech assignments.
  • Must be available for on call and weekend responsibilities.
REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION SKILLS
  • Certificate in Phlebotomy preferred
  • Valid NYS Driver's License required
  • Clean NYS Driver's License preferred
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Executing Venipuncture Procedure: including heel stick and finger stick techniques according to physician orders and applicable to regulations, policies and procedures to ensure complete and accurate specimens for testing. Adhering to established safety guidelines inclusive of the use of appropriate equipment and practices. Performing the essential functions necessary to maintain the integrity of the specimens for testing.
  • Ensures Customer Satisfaction: Greeting and assisting customers to provide necessary information to ensure accuracy and that patient is comfortable and safe. Confirm home visits by phone with customers.
  • Clerical Duties: Maintaining an adequate inventory of supplies and discarding of all expired materials. Collaborating with the Client Service Department on fax orders and STATS. Using the Laboratory Information System to enter patient demographics (including confirming identity of patients), billing information, client information, orders for tests and appropriate comments essential to ensure complete procurement, processing, testing, reporting of results, compliance and billing.
  • Assisting Supervisors and Managers: with special assignments and projects. Training new employees in office operations and phlebotomy procedures; assessing and reporting trainee progress to supervisor.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

PAY RANGE: $20.75 - $23.00

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
