Compensation Range:

$18.00 - $23.81

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

The main responsibility of pre-certified technicians in training will be to train in the role of a pharmacy technician and prepare to pass the PTCB Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam and becoming a Certified Pharmacy Technician. This will include hands on training in the employee┐s main work area. Within the first 6 months of employment, new employees with no previous pharmacy experience will enter into the Pharmacy Technician University (PTU) program, which will include didactic learning, simulations, and experiential rotations, and is typically completed in 12 weeks after passing the final exam. New employees with previous pharmacy experience may discuss an alternate pathway to certification with the Pharmacy Education Administrator. The goal is to move employees into a Certified Pharmacy Technician position within 12 months of employment. Responsibilities and tasks are consistent with state, federal and local regulations, consistent with the functions of a pharmacy technician.

Responsibilities

UR Medicine Pharmacy is seeking Pharmacy Technicians and Technicians-in-Training for the Float Pool. This role is a great way to begin a career in healthcare with free, on-the-job, paid training available for qualified candidates.

As a part of the Pharmacy Float Pool, you will have the opportunity to experience a variety of settings, such as outpatient (community-based) and specialty pharmacies. The Float Pool is an excellent training ground for those interested in a clinical career path.

  • The Float Pool is based out of 155 Bellwood Drive, Rochester, NY 14606 (Gates area)

  • Current openings offer a Full-Time schedule of 40 hours per week

What does a Pharmacy Technician do?

The Pharmacy Technician assists the Pharmacist with the preparation of medications. Based on the work location, responsibilities may include processing orders through the pharmacy computer system, entering patient information into the computer system, filling medication requests, and physically preparing drug doses for a Pharmacist's review and final check prior to dispensing to patients.

Pharmacy Technician Requirements:

  • For those interested in training to become a Pharmacy Technician, our program only requires a High School diploma or equivalent!

  • For those with prior Pharmacy experience, we also offer opportunities to become Certified Pharmacy Technicians!

  • Please note that Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification is required within 12 months of entering into position, if not already certified.
