University of Rochester Plastic Surgery / Kessler Burn Center - Family Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant in Rochester, New York

Responsibilities

A wonderful opportunity exists in the Division of Plastic, Reconstructive and Burn Surgery to work as part of a multidisciplinary Plastic Surgery team. This position serves a unique role in providing care of both Plastic Surgery patients and Burn patients in an internationally Verified Burn Center. We are looking for an energetic, self-motivated individual with exceptional organizational skills to provide direct patient care to outpatient ambulatory patients of all ages. The individual will collaboratively care for burn and plastic surgery patients with a multidisciplinary team. Ambulatory duties to include: the evaluation and management of acute burns, abdominal wall reconstruction, cosmetic patients, cancer and trauma reconstruction, hand/facial fractures, skin lesions and other plastic surgery diagnosis. This individual would also be responsible for pre- and post-operative management, coordination of home services, preparing weekly OR schedule and assisting with office procedures. As an autonomous provider, the APP will be able to bill for clinic and procedural services. There is potential for expanding this practice to utilize laser treatments and injectables. This individual should possess excellent communication skills, flexibility, and the ability to think critically. A vital and valued part of the team, the APP ensures continuity of care for all patients. The APP will participate in the education of learners (students and new employees), using clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing, and skill training. Clinical research opportunities exist and are encouraged. There is financial support and encouragement to attend CME accredited conferences both nationally and regionally. There are no night, weekend or holiday responsibilities.

Qualifications

Nurse Practitioner

Requires a Master's Degree in Nursing or related field and an active New York State license in good standing. Applicants will have 5 years experience as an RN with one to three years of leadership experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. The Nurse Practitioner influences the quality and delivery of care in various roles including consultant, researcher, mentor, and practitioner. This role may be unit, program, or service based and is involved in continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Physician Assistant

Completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program, licensure in good standing, and certified as a Registered Physician Assistant. Demonstrated clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills, computer competence and must have an active desire to learn. This role may be unit, program, or service based and is involved in continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $47.12 - $65.97 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum annual salary for this faculty position. Individual salaries will be determined within the job’s salary range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations. Incentive-based compensation may also be applicable and will be discussed during the hiring process.
