Description

The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Rochester Medical Center is seeking a Rehabilitation or Health Psychologist with interest and training in the evaluation and management of patients with acquired neurological and complex medical conditions. The psychologist will provide evidence-based psychological evaluation and treatment to patients recovering from TBI, concussion, stroke, spinal cord injury, amputation, neurodegenerative diseases, organ transplantation, polytrauma and complex medical conditions.

The psychologist will be an integral part of the multidisciplinary teams for brain injury, spinal cord injury, and medical complexity, as well as provide consultation-liaison services across the facility.

Opportunities can include:

· providing services to an acute inpatient rehabilitation, including a 20-bed general medical rehabilitation unit as well as newly opened 11-bed subspecialty brain injury rehabilitation unit

· conducting neuropsychological assessments in the outpatient rehab setting

· developing a multidisciplinary cognitive remediation program for outpatients

· providing outpatient psychotherapy to individuals adapting to illness and/or disability

· conducting pre-procedure evaluations for patients undergoing pain management interventions through the Spinal Intervention program

· growing an outpatient pain psychology program

· academic scholarly activity including interfacing the UR Neurorestoration Institute and the Del Monte Neuroscience Institute/Departments of Neurology and Neurosurgery

· teaching and mentoring psychology interns and fellows, and physical medicine and rehabilitation residents, fellows, and medical students

· Flexibility in focusing on inpatient, outpatient or a mix of both inpatient and outpatient

Qualified applicants with have a PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology from an APA/CPA accredited program and have completed an APA/CPA accredited pre-doctoral internship program. Preferred applicants will have training in rehabilitation or health psychology, including working with acquired neurologic and medically complex conditions in a multidisciplinary setting. Post-doctoral fellowship training in a healthcare or rehabilitation setting is preferred, but all candidates with interest and experience are encouraged to apply.

This position comes with a faculty appointment at the University of Rochester School of Medicine.

Individual salaries will be determined within the job’s salary range and established based on (but not limited to) market data, experience and expertise of the individual, and with consideration to related position salaries.
