Health First Senior Privacy Specialist - Privacy in Rockledge, Florida

POSITION SUMMARY

To be fully engaged in providing Quality/No Harm, Customer Service and Stewardship by maintaining knowledge of privacy issues and staying current on trends and developments in the privacy field; providing recommendations, advice, guidance to enhance organization privacy compliance and mitigate risk; coordinating activities for an effective Privacy Program; and develop and conducting education programs to respond to associate, management, first tier and downstream entities. Demonstrates leadership in the integration and application of IDN processes, health and business records, information technology, regulations and risk management for the IDN.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Serves as a subject matter expert on privacy and data protection laws, regulations, and their impact on the IDN’s operations.
  2. Perform privacy rounds and assess privacy risk at Health First entities.
  3. Understand and identify emerging privacy risks, trends and policies within the regulatory risk environment that could affect and impact the IDN and communicate the risks to stakeholders.
  4. Collaborate with team members to develop program training and communications for associates.
  5. Perform quality reviews of event reports and collaborate in dashboard review and preparation.
  6. Collaborate in the review and revision of department policies and procedures.
  7. Conducts or facilitates performance of reviews and investigations, including design and documentation of the review/investigatory methodology. Identifies potential compliance concerns, conducts data mining/analysis, privacy compliance risk reviews and investigations to confirm or refute concern, and quantifies the potential impact.
  8. Collaborates with various departments to obtain information needed in conducting risk reviews, risk assessments, and investigations. Provides result feedback summary reports to appropriate leadership and key stakeholders.
  9. Recommends remediation plans and risk mitigation plans in response to investigative findings and/or review results.
    1. Creates reports for regulatory agencies as directed.
    2. Partners with department leadership to establish privacy compliance monitors and reports as needed. Provides feedback and education to providers, staff and leaders throughout the organization on the results of reviews, investigations, and monitoring activities.
    3. Flexible duties as assigned within the department.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration or related field.
  • Work Experience: Three (3) years of experience in health-related field and/or health information technology/management.
  • Licensure: None
  • Certification: Privacy, Compliance, Health Information Management or other related field within two (2) years of start date and maintained.
  • Work Experience In Lieu of Education: Associate degree with five (5) years of Healthcare Administration experience.
  • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: o Advanced knowledge of HIPAA, State, and Federal regulations o Microsoft Office – Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Majority of time involves sitting or standing; occasional walking, bending, stooping.
  • Long periods of computer time or at workstation.
  • May be exposed to inside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to moderate noise.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
  • Workspace may vary from open to confined, on site or remote.
  • May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
