Job Description:
Westat’s 11-week summer internship experiences will be hybrid at one of our U.S. office locations. Our interns can expect to work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
The program will begin on Monday, June 2, 2025, and end by August 15, 2025. During the summer internship program, you will be assigned a project deliverable and will present during the final week of the program. You will also attend educational programs and networking events.
A hybrid work arrangement with 1-2 days onsite at a Westat office is preferred. This is a U.S. based position; pay rate for this role is $22/hr.
Job Summary:
We are looking for an intern to help support two Federal clients with implementing mission-critical work. The intern will work with a Westat team to learn about innovative payment models, and directly support participating practices by providing technical assistance and providing informational resources. There will also be an opportunity to work with quantitative data in Stata, Excel, SAS, or other similar software. The other 50% of the intern’s time will be spent assisting with a project to update a Healthcare Research Database. This task will involve both quantitative skills, assisting with linking population-level datasets to individual-level data, as well as more user-focused tasks designed to increase uptake and use of the database such as building data visualizations, developing training videos, and assisting with webinars.
Job responsibilities include:
Provide technical assistance by drafting informational resources (e.g., arranging webinars/office hours).
Review and track model participants’ progress on onboarding to systems; manipulate data merging various files in Stata, Excel, SAS or other software.
Conduct quality assurance checks of data manipulation and written products.
Maintain/develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) documenting internal tasks and processes.
Draft PowerPoint presentations and assist with webinars demonstrating how to access and use the Database.
Develop training videos and marketing materials aimed at researchers to increase knowledge of and use of the Database.
Support a webinar designed to solicit feedback from a small group of invited experts, helping to develop the PowerPoint slide deck and drafting a meeting summary.
Assist with QA of the database and related products using SAS, R or Excel.
Basic Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in social sciences, behavioral sciences or a related field.
Demonstrated experience with one or more statistical software packages including SAS, R, or Python.
Proficient in MS Office, including SharePoint.
U.S. Citizenship required per contract.

Experience in data visualization.
