Job Summary:

Westat is seeking a Senior Research Associate to join our team engaged in social policy and economic research. This position will provide project management and logistics support to research projects that address disparities and promote equity in the areas of food and nutrition, transportation, labor and workforce development, family support and aging, and military and Veterans. The successful candidate will bring expertise managing complex, large-scale projects and coordinating and managing project teams and project budgets, with a strong commitment to promoting equity and inclusivity in all aspects of their work.

A hybrid work arrangement with 1-2 days on-site at a Westat office location is preferred, remote work arrangements will be considered.

Job Responsibilities:

• Lead project management activities, including coordinating team meetings, communicating with clients, streamlining project communications, reviewing invoices, monitoring project schedules, and reviewing project deliverables.

• Organize and lead professional development activities and trainings related to project management for social policy and economic research projects and project managers.

• Develop tools and processes for internal and external partners to manage projects.

• Draft and maintain project timelines and deliverable schedules.

• Draft and send client communications.

• Manage and monitor project costs.

• Coordinate and contribute to business development activities, including managing proposals, maintaining proposal schedules, coordinating proposal teams, and drafting proposal language.

Basic Qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree in social science or other relevant field with 10 years or more of relevant experience related to project management and coordination and logistics or a master’s in social science or other relevant field with 6 or more years of relevant experience related to project management and coordination and logistics.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Project Management Professional (PMP) certified.

• Experience working with project management software (e.g., SmartSheets, Teams Planner, Slack, Trello, Jira, Monday.com).

• Proficiency with MS Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

• Flexibility to work across various clients and research topics in various roles.

• Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of work.

• Familiarity with and interest in supporting social policy and economic research.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Demonstrated writing, communication, and organizational skills.

• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively across multiple projects to coordinate completion of tasks.

• Ability to collaborate with teams, managers, and/or clients fostering a respectful and inclusive workplace.

• Detail oriented.
