Robert Half Staff Accountant in Rocky Mount, North Carolina
Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive staff accountant for a contract-to-hire employment opportunity in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. In this role, you will play a critical part in managing customer credit applications and ensuring the accuracy of customer credit records. Additionally, you will contribute to a wide range of accounting and financial reporting tasks that support organizational efficiency and compliance.
Responsibilities
• Oversee the process of accounting transactions and provide necessary accounting guidance
• Engage in the preparation of financial reports for Federal and State grants
• Handle the preparation of annual financial reports, including audit spreadsheets, the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, and work papers for external audits
• Create, update, and analyze monthly sales reports to assist Division Heads
• Confirm all transactions in the financial system and reconcile supplemental reports for departmental use and external projections
• Monitor the Accounts Payable workflow and address any potential issues as the Lead Accountant
• Communicate financial information to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner
• Provide training to city employees on accounting processes, policies, and software applications
• Perform other related job duties as assigned by the management.
Requirements • The applicant must have at least 1 year of experience in the role of Staff Accountant or a similar position in the field of accounting.
• Proficiency in managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) is a prerequisite for this position.
• The candidate should be skilled in performing Bank Reconciliations.
• Knowledge and experience in maintaining and reviewing the General Ledger are required.
• The ability to prepare and record Journal Entries accurately is essential for this role.
• The applicant should be capable of executing Month End Close activities.
• Experience in handling Annual External Audit is desirable.
• The candidate should ideally be familiar with Grant Accounting.
