Job Description: The Carpenter Foreman is responsible for leading and performing a variety of "highway heavy" concrete carpentry tasks. Tasks include erecting and setting forms for concrete structures, foundations, bridges, boardwalks, etc. The Carpenter Foreman will allocate duties, enforce safety measures, and maintain positive relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and other employees. This position requires regional travel (80%). Overnight travel is required. A Day in the Life at Veit Site Management: Oversee construction sites, enforce employee schedules, manage timelines, and ensure adherence to safety codes and construction plans. Direct production activities and ensure timely and accurate submission of job reports and documents. Blueprints & Planning: Read and interpret drawings, prints, and blueprints. Develop construction plans in consultation with designs and client instructions. Form Construction: Build, assemble, and set wood or metal forms for various concrete structures, including floors, slabs, walls, columns, tilt-walls, elevated slabs, elevator cores, decks, and boardwalks. Erect forms using various materials and forming systems, ensuring proper elevation and location, and assist with the installation of reinforcing steel as needed. Structure Accuracy: Verify the accuracy of structures using tools such as plumb bobs, carpenter's levels, lasers, and digital transits. Scaffolding & Safety: Erect scaffolding and ladders for above-groundwork, ensuring compliance with all safety policies and guidelines. Concrete Placement: Assist with concrete placement as required. General Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned. What You'll Need At least five years' formwork/concrete construction experience as a Carpenter/Carpenter Foreman. Ability to follow applicable safety precautions. Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to heavy equipment operations is also required. Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency. Willingness to share knowledge / mentor junior crew members. Preferred: OSHA 30 Supervisory Responsibility * The Superintendent/Foreman (Foundations) directly manages the lead personnel and staff on each project site. Other * Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test. * Must be able to work 8-to-12-hour workdays, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends, as needed. * 80% travel within the upper Midwest region is required. * Must be able to maintain satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record. * Must be over the age of 18. * Union affiliation or willingness to join the union is required. Employee is exposed to environmental conditions, working near machines and loud noises associated with construction sites.
