Patient Navigator-Cancer Care/Infusion Services

Uintah Basin Healthcare is seeking a Patient Navigator to work with our Cancer Care/Infusion Services teams on our Roosevelt and Vernal campuses. The successful candidate will have exceptional customer service, communication, and organizational skills. The Patient Navigator will act as a patient advocate and work with our patients to assist them in all aspects of their clinical journey. Duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Participate in committee meetings reviewing and improving the processes of their position and coordinating tasks from the interprofessional teams.
  • Be the point of contact for physician's offices concerning patient intake, orders, and documentation needed for preauthorization and billing.
  • Serve as a financial resource to the patient care team, staff, patients, and their families regarding financial issues and obtaining eligibility and benefit information.
  • Be the patient's point of contact regarding scheduling and financial concerns
  • Communicate frequently with patients regarding the intake process
  • Facilitate the gathering of patient demographic and insurance information
  • Check that medical necessity is met for Medicare patients before services occur.
  • Assist patients with financial assistance application
  • Maintain frequent communication with the patient, patient care team, infusion team, revenue cycle department, preauthorization department, and department leadership.
  • Work with the Revenue Cycle Director to identify ways to ensure the maximum reimbursement possible for infusion services and to prevent denials related to infusion services.

Regulatory Requirements:

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Language Skills:
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Additional languages are desirable.

Skills:

  • Basic computer knowledge of Electronic Medical Records and Google Office Suite.
  • Knowledge and experience in healthcare billing and insurance authorizations are preferred.
  • Must be compassionate and willing to work with patients who are experiencing life-changing circumstances.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary clinical/financial teams.
