As part of SCE’s Procurement team managing over $7 billion in spend, you will develop high impact sourcing strategies that pave SCE’s path towards the grid of the future. Our procurement categories cover:

Direct Services: Transmission and Distribution Line Construction; Substation Construction; Design & Planning; Civil Construction; Generation; Engineering; Transportation Services; Environmental Services and Corporate Real Estate

Direct Materials: Transmission Towers; Poles; Transformers; Capacitor Banks, Wire and Cable, etc.

Indirect Procurement: IT procurement (hardware and software); Managed Services; Customer Service; Special Projects; and Facilities Construction.

As a Senior Category Manager , your outstanding supply chain management experience as well as your interpersonal and analytical skills will be called upon to manage a variety of categories to secure the best value contracts through cost savings, compliance, safety, and risk mitigation while achieving SCE overarching business objectives.

A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies utilizing category management best practices to make data driven decisions including Prescriptive Analytics, Make vs Buy, Should Costing, Risk Review, Total Cost of Ownership, Benchmarking, Trend Analysis and SWOT Analysis.

  • Prepare and deliver category strategy PowerPoint presentations to key stakeholders, leveraging internal data sources, external market research, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Lead competitive solicitations (RFPs) including jobwalks, bid evaluations, multi-phased price and terms & conditions negotiations, supplier selection, contract drafting, and award execution.

  • Develop and implement innovative solutions to resolve complex issues while utilizing organizational readiness change management strategies.

  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities, assessing current and future business processes for best work practice and/or technological fit based on external market and industry practices.

  • Build strategic relationships by collaborating with stakeholders such as your Organizational Unit clients, Contractor Safety, Law, Safety, Environmental Services, Corporate Risk, insurance, Cybersecurity, Ethics & Compliance and Executives.

  • Provide guidance and leadership to other sourcing professionals in a lead role on the Edison Procurement team.

  • Maintaining a safety conscious work environment by following Edison safety protocols and safe work practices; and performing other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The essentials

  • At least ten years of experience in category strategy development and execution, strategic sourcing, procurement and/or contract management.

The preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Supply Management, Operations or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) Certification or Certified Professional in Supply Chain Management (CPSM) Certification, Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), or Project Management (PMP) Certification.

  • Experience implementing and improving procurement tools and strategies.

  • Experience integrating strategies with technology solutions such as Ariba, SAP, and related platforms.

  • Experience communicating with internal and external partners as well as recommending solutions to executive leadership.

  • Experience creating and tracking project management plans that specify charter, scope, cost estimates, schedule, milestones and target dates, and risk management plans.

  • Experience collaborating with clients, including independently identifying client needs, developing action plans, identifying deliverables, and presenting results.

You should know

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid . The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
