Position Summary: Professional engineering position with responsibilities in the areas of new product development, field technical assistance, and manufacturing support. With general guidance from manager, supports new product development and improvements to existing products. Key skills to support new product development include component design and analysis, FMEAs, DFM/DFAs, test planning, and component/system testing to ensure products achieves performance and reliability targets. Responsibilities * Motivated, self-directed, and the ability to make risk balanced decisions. * Designs electro/mechanical components and systems for the automotive, agriculture and/or constructions markets * Designs and analyzes die-casted, stamped, molded and machined components. * Coordinates with manufacturing engineers to consider DFM/DFA * Designs and models or directs the modeling and drafting of concepts into designs. * Conducts computer aided analysis of new concepts with FEA and/or CFD. * Completes tolerance stack-ups to ensure proper assembly and function. * Visits customer locations, as needed, to develop an understanding of the customer's needs. * Tests materials and concepts, working closely with the test lab staff to design tests and document results. * Determines when an aspect of a product is ready for release. * Develops test designs to measure the function and quality of products and to test new ideas or modifications of existing products. * Provides technical expertise in support of improvements to existing product designs; authorizes product design revisions. * Participates in the process of screening vendors and their products for use by Horton. * 5% or less Travel * Other duties as assigned Qualifications Requires an accredited four-year degree in Engineering 2+ Years of Relevant Experience is required. Job title is dependent on years of relevant experience. Experience designing electrical or mechanical components and assemblies for the automotive market is preferred. Experience designing die-casted, stamped, molded and machined components for the automotive market is preferred. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package.
