Overview

Presbyterian Homes & Services is seeking an Education & Training Specialist to join our team. This position works in a collaborative manner with Presbyterian Homes & Services Management and Services Clinical and Human Resources team in the development and facilitation of education curriculum, standard on-boarding/orientation facilitation, competency development and monitoring, and continued education activities of human resources, individual contributors and PHS people leaders.

REPORTING STRUCTURE: The Human Resources Education & Training Specialist reports to the CHRO or designee and works collaboratively with the Regional Directors and other Functional leaders as necessary.

Responsibilities

This position is responsible for training, education and continuing education that will engage employees to meet PHS and personal goals. position also focuses on leadership development. A key focus of this role is experience training in the area of leadership development.

Some of responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Identify training needs and gaps in the organization in close cooperation with Human Resources, functional leaders, and managers.

  • Provide inputs to the training strategy and the development of specific training development plans.

  • Plan training courses and sessions and manage and monitor the assigned training budget. Manage and facilitate ongoing cadence and execution of assigned training for the human resources function. Utilize a computer-based learning system in managing and recording training occurrences and related initiatives. Optimizes the training portfolio as specialized targeted courses are offered to managers and employees.

  • Promote a culture of ownership of PHS values and focus areas, starting at orientation and embedded throughout all educational offerings.

  • Build a network of internal trainers and organize the regular Train the Trainer sessions.

  • Cooperate with the Human Resources operations team to design programs to support leadership development for high potentials and future leaders through talent talk meets, development coaching, and conversations.

  • Manage continuous improvement of curriculum content and delivery systems that promote practical application in the day-to-day business function and planning for future business needs. Evaluate the quality of training courses and implements improvements.

  • Collaborate with other members of the human resources, operations, and other functional leaders to identify, meet and support the learning and development needs of PHS employees during both onboarding/orientation and ongoing.

  • Development, implementation, and monitoring of educational activities as new or revised skill levels/programs and initiatives are identified.

  • Contribute and facilitate, if required, at the Human Resources Functional Workgroup or monthly calls.

  • Promote continuous self-development and growth. Exhibit technical competence in the field by being familiar with and ensuring compliance with regulations and established best practices. Maintain current knowledge of community resources and organization and industry policies and practices. Use discretion and independent judgment to compare and evaluate possible courses of action and decision-making.

  • Support the integration of Christian Culture through communication and education systems.

  • Other areas as identified to support aligned goal setting and achievement as driven by the CHRO.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resource management, Training and Development, or a related field required.

  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Human Resources, generalist or HR management. Learning and Development experience preferred.

  • Two (2) years of professional experience in delivering training to adult learners required, and instructional design experience preferred.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Ability to effectively present and deliver training to professional adult learners in a variety of areas such as company culture, employee engagement, behavioral interviewing, performance management, conflict resolution, and total rewards.

  • A strong commitment to customer service and the ability to work independently and on self-directed tasks.

  • Detail-oriented, results-focused with a commitment to quality, accuracy, and the ability to make sound decisions.

  • Experience working in collaborative relationships.

  • Experience with technology-based instruction.

  • Flexibility to work and travel up to 30% to more than one location.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other common computer programs.

  • Demonstrated ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language to communicate with all customers.

  • Demonstrated compatibility with PHS’ mission and operating philosophies.
