BASIC FUNCTION and RESPONSIBILITY: Operate a school bus in the service of pupil transportation inside and outside the school district.

Support of Administrative, Fiscal and/or Facilities Functions:

• Transport students and other passengers to and from designated destinations. Adjust and plan travel routes if necessary.
• Communicate with and cooperatively assist support staff in maintaining updated routing structures, addressing safety issues as needed.
• Maintain schedule for the operation and regular maintenance requirements of the bus.
• Make routine checks and inspection of bus and equipment for proper operation, safety, and maintenance.
• Observe and follow all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing commercial transportation.
• Follow Board, district, and departmental policies and procedures regarding student management and discipline. Report incidents to proper personnel.
• Maintain required records of bus usage and reports of operation.
• Maintain positive customer service support through communication with parents and campus personnel, and provide recommendations for and implementation of improvements in service delivery.
• Maintain valid commercial driver license with P and S endorsements with no greater than 9 points and TEA school bus driver certification.
• Provide assistance to campuses/departments as requested.
