Happy State Bank - a division of Centennial Bank Commercial Loan Closer in Round Rock, Texas

The Commercial Loan Closer is responsible for reviewing loan documentation, funding, and daily operational activity for commercial and real estate loans, as well as the overall closing process. This position processes loan closings, advances, payments, and maintenance items together with all other operational transactions, including renewal and loan modifications, on an ongoing basis. The Commercial Loan Closer works directly with the commercial lender and/or Portfolio Manager along with the borrower, legal counsel, title companies, insurance agents, and vendors to provide problem resolutions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Works directly with lender and/or Portfolio Manager along with the borrower, legal counsel, title companies, insurance agents, and vendors to provide problem resolutions. This duty is performed daily, about 15% of the time.

  2. Processes commercial loan closings, advances, payments, and maintenance items together with all other operational transactions, as well as renewal and loan modifications on an on-going basis. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the time.

  3. Ensures adherence to commercial loan policies and regulatory requirements prior to disbursements, follow-up requirements and documentation. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the time.

  4. Maintains current knowledge of all internal policies, procedures and training as well as external legislature and regulations. This duty is performed daily, about 5% of the time.

  5. Reviews and comprehends moderately complex commercial loan documentation, loan terms and financial elements for accuracy and consistency with the credit approvals. This duty is performed daily, about 5% of the time.

6.Acts as liaison between front line and loan admin/operations including lender/portfolio manager and underwriting. This duty is performed daily, about 5% of the time.

  1. Reads and interprets loan and legal documentation required. This duty is performed daily, about 5% of the time.

  2. Evaluates and distributes due diligence items necessary for a loan closing and collaborates with Bank Officer. This duty is performed weekly, about 5% of the time.

  3. Confirms budget, escrow closing statements and bank settlement statements are in balance, assuring fees and expenses are accounted for and outstanding items are identified. This duty is performed daily, about 5% of the time.

  4. Facilitates loan closing process, providing high quality customer service while complying with Bank Policy and Federal Regulations. This duty is performed weekly, about 5% of the time.

  5. Provides problem resolutions to help make decisions and/or recommendations to ensure closing requirements are met and necessary due diligence is obtained. This duty is performed daily, about 5% of the time.

  6. Ensures waivers, exceptions or any deviations from policy are adequately documented. This duty is performed as needed.

  7. Notifies the lender and attorney of missing items or required corrections, ensuring the attorney closing checklist is accurate. This duty is performed as needed.

  8. Verifies the bank is adhering to commercial loan policies prior to the disbursement of loan proceeds. This duty is performed weekly, about 5% of the time.

  9. Post-review of attorney prepared loan documentation, including the supporting documentation. This duty is performed weekly, about 5% of the time.

  10. Provides outstanding customer service to internal and external customers displaying positive attitude at all times. This duty is performed daily, about 5% of the time.

  11. Trains new staff and co-workers. This duty is performed as needed.

  12. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. This duty is performed daily.

  13. Completes required BSA/AML training and other compliance training as assigned. This duty is performed quarterly.

  14. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICA IONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Knowledge of a specialized field (however acquired), such as basic accounting, computer, etc. Equivalent of four years in high school, plus night, trade extension, or correspondence school specialized training, equal to two years of college, plus 3 years related experience and/or training, and 3 years related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization. Ability to read, analyze, and understand general business/company related articles and professional journals; ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. ability to write reports, business correspondence, and policy/procedure manuals; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
