Job Summary and Qualifications

Plans, organizes, supervises and controls the activities of Emergency Management to provide effective upkeep of equipment and facilities in accordance with policies, procedures, standards and practices set by RRMC, the Texas Department of Health and other local governmental agencies.

  • Participates in providing patient specific care standards as directed, and follows service excellence standards to ensure high levels of patient satisfaction.

  • Development, maintenance, and implementation of Environment of Care and Emergency Management Plans and associated components.

  • Development of guidelines and protocols as needed for regulatory compliance.

  • Maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations including, but not limited to TCEQ, EPA, OSHA, TJC and CMS.

  • Maintenance of emergency management equipment and resources. Keeping resources up to date to improve incident command effectiveness and compliance.

  • Maintaining compliance with general workplace safety requirements including OSHA Standards. NFPA, and Uniform Fire Code.

  • Maintains regulatory compliance documents in Complyos as required.

  • Serve as Chairperson of the Emergency Management ad-hoc committee and Co-chair of the Environment of Care Committee and the Safety & Security Committee.

  • Serve as hospital appointed Safety Officer

  • Responsible for the coordination, execution, and documentation of required emergency preparedness exercises and fire drills. A least two emergency preparedness drills a year.

  • Provides follow up, education and action plan for opportunities identified in exercises and fire drills.

  • Work with the Quality Department to ensure adherence to infection prevention policies and procedures.

  • Coordinate and Conduct environmental rounding of clinical and nonclinical areas at the hospital and off-site locations. Document and report findings/resolutions to the Environment of Care Committee at least once per month.

  • Provides education for new employees and staff as required.

  • Ensures completion and maintains documentation of FEMA education for leadership staff.

  • Provides Hazmat training for staff annually, biannually and quarterly as needed to maintain hazmat response team.

  • Provides oversight and coordination for the hazmat response team.

  • Participates in regional and state committees from Emergency Management as well as drills.

  • Responsible for Safety and Emergency preparedness for all offsite facilities and properties.

  • Trends and statistics for compliance and reports findings and opportunities to Emergency Management committee and Environment of Care committee.

  • When disaster situations occur and the emergency management plan activated, becomes the point of contact for administration and facility leadership. Coordinates use of resources and safety needs.

  • Provides after action hotwash when the emergency management plan is activated in timely manner for identification of opportunities and action planning.

  • Oversight of Code Ready during disasters.

  • Completes quarterly HCA Alert drills and maintains HCA Alert paging.

  • Actively participates in division and corporate Emergency Management committees and exercises.

  • Provides facility deliverables to division and corporate on Emergency Management exercises, protocols and procedures.

  • Employee’s conduct must reflect the Company’s values and a commitment to the Code of Conduct ethics and compliance program.

  • Employee reflects SDH Service Excellence standards in every interaction.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Bachelors Degree

  • Licensed in the state of Texas as RN ( or hold eligible Compact license to practice as an RN in the state of Texas) or Paramedic; Current BLS for Healthcare Providers with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

  • Supervisory experience required
