The Principal Electrical Engineer Sr provides technical leadership within the electrical engineering department/platform. Performs complex engineering analysis, design or re-design, validation and troubleshooting of electrical/electronic systems for aircraft ground power systems. Experience with circuit board design and development and provide control narratives for Software development.

YOUR IMPACT:

  • Responsible for completion of a complex projects on time.

  • Will be responsible for overall project schedule and budget as assigned.

  • Responsible for managing multiple priorities.

  • Collaborate as needed with other engineering business support disciplines internally as well as suppliers externally.

  • May have exposure to the external customers and/or industry organizations.

  • Provide guidance or mentorship to entry level engineers working on a common project.

  • Perform and check complex engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned according to Oshkosh as well as general industry engineering standards and processes.

  • Responsible for the preparation and delivery of complex plans designs, computation methods, and/or reporting.

  • Research, create, and update standard engineering methodology and procedures - best practices, etc.

  • Perform complex electrical engineering analysis of customer requirements, including design of new and modified systems, ensuring current products remain competitive as well as supporting new products.

  • Interface with customers/suppliers to resolve complex technical issues to provide the business with innovative, industry leading solutions.

  • Regular attendance is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with eight (8) or more years of related experience.

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Design experience with programming languages and controls software.

  • Electrical troubleshooting/root cause/corrective action expertise.

  • AC/DC Power Conversion expertise

  • Experience in working with frequency converters

  • Basic knowledge of transformers

  • Experience obtaining UL/CE certifications for products

  • Experience with circuit board design Software, and circuit performance simulation Software (Plecs, LTSpice, etc.)

  • Ability to generate reports, communicate using presentation templates and provide transparency of work objectives and progress.

  • Travel may be up to 10% to commercial and military facilities
